I would go with a small company, they are usually more reliable than bigger ones that hire temps.
I use a husband and wife team at £25 per 1000 leaflets.

Thats not sole delivery though - they are delivered alongside 4 or 5 other leaflets.
You would pay around £65 per 1000 for them to be delivered on there own.

The company I use keep me updated with emails with details of the roads/ areas that have been delivered to. You can then do your own checks if you want to -or just wait till the phones rings with new customers! ;)

I used to do that, they are usually good for about 2 weeks and then stop, however they still like to claim that they put them out.

Not saying all are like that,....

just the 23 we have employed in the last 12 months.....

1% always seems to be quoted as a decent return and that's what Craig's had.  My first decent drop was 10,000 which were delivered with a local paper to a targeted area.  Initial response was muted to say the least but I still had calls upto twelve months later from people who had kept the leaflet.  My easiest job from one of my own leaflet jobs was when I pulled up in a cul-de-sac and a lady came over to me and asked for a quote and then her neighbour also asked for a quote.  I'd picked up nearly £300.00 of work without getting a leaflet out!

Delivered another 500 over past few days - finding it hard to keep the pace up as well as work though  :-\ Anyway our local newspaper will deliver 10k at £23+VAT per 1k. Seems a good deal compared to other avenues but we are undecided as it will obviously be junk in some peoples eyes immediately as in a free paper with menus / supermarket leaflets. Cant see us delivering 10k by hand though oursleves?

I have just delivered 400 this morning , but I dont think I will get one call as the local curry house , estate agent , builder had all delivered flyers before me ! ( what time do these people start) I think they will all be thrown into the bin tonight . :'(

I would never pay for a solus delivery , what would be the point , as you dont know waht is going to be delivered to the house before or after yours !

nothing in the diary this week, so I will have to try again  tomorrow in a different area.

key is get 2 people through gumtree to deliver them for you at nyt (5-8) then you are not caught up with mail or other flyer

the customer hears chap at the letter box and as everyone does turns around to there partner and says whos that

wife walks back into the room with flyer generating conversation

I need to get out more hahahaha

Paul.judging by what has been quoted on here , a 1%  return you will get 4 jobs  ::)  ,

I think you willl find the true figure is more likely to be 0.1 %   if its a really good flyer, and goes out as solo and the houses are selected , then this may rise slightly .

I only wish i could achieve 1% return , 10 jobs from 1,000 leaflets  ,doubtful  :-\

Unless it had a really compelling offer I find 1% hard to believe but people claim it so they must get that

Ian,  reality and  fantasy, 2 differnt words ................  , and i am not suggesting people are making figures up, perhaps getting the maths wrong  ;)

After all it says fire on them buckets, but i know there full of sand .

I do not think that I have ever achieved a reponse of 1% off leaflets it would be lovely to get. If that response level was attainable it would be well worth the effort.
So far this week we have only delivered 500 but have not yet had a single enquiry, this is not unusual for us.

this is the way to do it! if you have a few hrs to spare deliver them yourself, you know where there goin plus its good exercise, and you might get a potential punter who so happens to pick your leaflet up and want a quote there and then! as happened to me last fri... :-*
