2 baywindows
5 normal size windows
1 set of fench doors
1 little round window
and front door
told here it would be £12 which i didn't think was to bacd but she told me not to bother and looked at me like i was a conman >:( i ask what her last cleaner charged and she said £7 he has just retired and for £12 i will climb the ladder myself at the age of 70.
did i price the job high or was she just a miserable tight old bag ;D ;D what would you have charged ?
-
pass the job on to the windowman

£15 sounds about right.
-
I'd have charged 13 quid mate. Stick to your guns and be confident in your pricing
Another custy would say 'that's quite good'-just the way it goes
You'll always get those that think you're too expensive
-
Depends what part of the country your in, We are in Buckinghamshire and that would be a good price that gets a 3 bed house easy.
The other guy retired and probaly has not put prices up for years.
Don't change your price structure because 1 persons knocks you back.
-
Stick to set prices and tell them that as well.. Say I can't reduce the price as others on this street pay £12 and everyone must be charged fairly...
-
I did tell her that i couldn't do it for seven pounds.
front windows only would have been £6-7 ;D ;D ;D
perhaps she will get the message if other cleaners tell her the same ;D ;D ;D

Sounds about right to me maybe even underpriced

£12 is my minimum charge for new work. It sounds like that job would just about fit into that price minimum - unless there were bad access issues.
A fair price IMO and possibly room for slightly higher.
-
£15 for that wfp
you win sum you loose sum...
-
yes you were too expensive, £12 for 10 mins, conman!
-
You need to have confidence in your pricing structure and stick with it, you cannot compete with a recently retired wc who has probably not put his prices up in years.

I agree.

Your price was about right - maybe a little low even.
Here's what happened:-
Her windy retired (or couldn't be assed to do her windows so cheap anymore).
She's been spoiled by him and is of the age/type/mentality who has had a sheltered life in w/c terms. If he's done her windows for the past ten years or more she hasn't felt the full force of the "new age" of window cleaning.
So time will pass; her windows will get worse - she might get an unreliable doley or she might get a keen new starter for a tenner - she'll probably get no-one.
Your price was fair - don't kick yourself over it, remember "If you get every job you quote for then you are too cheap!"
-
wash your mouth out;you can never be too expensive ;D
-
definitely not to expensive. I wouldn't worry about it
-
thanks for the replys lads feel better now :) in a few years time i suppose i will be used to it, but it's still early days ;D ;D
if she phones me next week and says she wants me to do them for £12 i'll tell her that's last weeks price it's £15 now ;D ;D ;D

Had a chap few weeks back ask me to do his windows as "last one was unreliable" ... 9 windows with med to large conny .. HE TOLD ME 10 quid or not to do them ::)
Told him £12 .... as 10 quid to low
Forget it he said as last one was charging 8 quid ... tried to tell him that was too low and his old windie was putting him to bottom of list hence "unrealiable"
so went on my way and his missus rang me a few days later and told me to start doing them at 12quid .... said sorry too busy ........ he would have dropped me as soon as he found a cheaper quote.
Stick to your pricing - dont be a busy fool
