What can I say? A fool and its money are soon parted, only got a glimpse of your other post (now deleted) sorry about your ill heath (wife down in your neck woods November max would be £350 in good working oder)

Phil, what made you make the decision to invest in the Host system ?
My advice would be to keep it for your light to medium soilage jobs,
Combining it with light pre-spraying before putting down the sponges.
Any spotting work has to be done separately anyway.
Wevè all got to pay for our learning, think and go for damage limitation.

i bought some terry towels for £19.99 and they were rubbish if that makes you feel any better.
good machine host if you market it right, should be getting a premium for niche cleaning, regardless of whether it does a good job or not.

Phil, don't be daft. I know dozens who are making an excellent living from this system. Give me a ring is you want a chat about it.

phil i have an airflex turbo but i have not used it at all this year, all the jobs i have done this year have been with my host though i have to admit it is pretty useless unless you use a good prespray prior to putting down the sponges. i find mpower to be an excellent prespray am currently using surround with goog results, nemesis is also a good prespray and is i believe very similar to mpower in its make up. i am not one of the more experienced cc's on the forum but if you would like a chat about how i do a clean using the host you are welcome to give me a call 076999820624

what happened in the other thread as it got deleted would help understand this one.
from edge2edge: you selling your website? if so how come?
is host really that bad? are the results noticeably worse then HWE and if so how do you still please the customer? can you charge more for host cleaning or is it quicker so earn more per hour?
-
Host can get very good results if used correctly and if you have the market for it then there is good money to be made.I do lots of rental work which price is just about the only consideration so the thermadry and truckmount have it well covered so thats where i put all my energies into .The product cost of host or envirodri sponges mean your product costs are higher which then has to be passed onto the customer............Regards Alan

Phil
I have been using the Host system for about 6 months now and I'm impressed with it and have some very satisified customers (look at our Checkatrade page, you can link to it from our website www.ecofloorcareuk.com (http://www.ecofloorcareuk.com)).
It took me a couple of months to really get the hang of the system and work out how to get top quality results. Just a small change in brushing technique can make a big difference. Also making sure you are using the most suitable brushes for the job. There are some good videos on You Tube showing technique.
I have used the Host system on some very dirty carpets with good results. In this situation you need to use the Host traffic lane booster. This is best used as a fine mist - don't soak the carpet. First vacuum, then clean with Host sponges and vacuum, then apply traffic lane booster, then reapply Host sponges, clean and vacuum. You may need to repeat this cycle. This can be time consuming, so make sure you quote enough to cover the time.
In truth the Host system is best used on quality carpets and rugs at the top end of the market. These generally have only light soiling and respond very well to the Host system. This is the end of the market I aim my advertising at. I find people are really pleased to be left with dry, clean, pleasant smelling carpets that have had the pile lifted and feel soft underfoot. At this end of the market customers are also interested in the environmental and eco-friendly advantages of using the Host system.
Host also works really well on natural fibre floor coverings such as sisal, coir and seagrass. On these I charge double my usual rate as they take much longer to clean than a standard carpet. You shouldn't use spot remover, traffic lane booster or any other liquids on these carpets so you just need to keep brushing with the Host organic sponges.
I've also had very good results cleaning Persian and silk rugs with Host. You will need the soft gold brushes and may need to remove the vacuum pod from the Freestyle to make it lighter if the rugs are delicate. In this case use a hand held vacuum attachment.
I hope this provides some encouragement for you to keep going with the Host system.
Best regards
