Title: How would you price solar panel cleaning ?
Post by: boshravie on September 02, 2011, 06:21:08 pm
Hi guys

As you know the market for solar panels are growing fast and as you know they all need to be cleaned perhaps very six months or yearly, just wondering if any of you have started to clean them ?

1-   would you price by each pan ?
2-   would you price by the distance you have to travel and the size of the pan?
3-   Would you price by the distance you have to travel, size of the pan and the height of the property?
4-     How much would you charge if you cleaned it by pan?

Your reply would be appreciated.

Bosh

just price anything you clean by what you want per hour x time taken to do the job mate.

£30 per hr is a good average on domestic work

Hi bosh,
this is my first time on here, I have been window cleaning for over 40 years so I must be getting something right as I have a very successful business.
R E pricing solar panels I have been looking at this myself. I think it is like all jobs you have to take all of the elements - Height, degree of difficulty check your insurance to see if you are covered for solar panels, could be a bit expensive if you drop your brush on one, distance travelled, material cost, etc. Lets say you charge £15.00 for a house & it takes you 20 mins if you think you will do solar panels in the same time & you are happy then charge the same price. At the end of the day if you can earn £40 plus per hour then you are not doing to bad. If you have to travel for 30 mins then this will have to be costed into the price. I hope this helps.

Regards

Hi Rick
Many thanks for your replay, yes very interesting, I was thinking around the same price £40 per hours, the other way of doing it is : say  for example the house in question is about 15 miles from me I would charge say £10.00 for travelling and then charge the cleaning per pan, which would be £3.00 per pan, this could be another way of doing it, perhaps?
