We are trying out a new leaflet company this week that works in a way I have never come accross before. They will be doing 10,000 for us this coming sunday
They will be going out solus and I am hoping for 40-70 new customers as a result We currently have 35,000 leaflets in our unit so fingers crossed this company will do a good job.
I will let you know who they are and the results we got at the end of next week

Why not up a canvassing team and get them to knock 10000 doors.
You will get far better success.
I'm in the process of building a canvassing team.all have previous experience too.

good luck lee post up the results

a fair question
I feel that a customer that comes to you rather than being hunted down is far stronger.
-
I agree on them coming to you etc. But after canvassing you could weed them out. I'm going to try a few canvassing companies but also looking to try what you're doing to. Problem is with the leafletting, you might get one house on one area, another 3 miles away, reduces P/H rate quite alot.
-
we stick to a very carfully maped out area so one hear one there is never a problem for us we already work in the area being done.
Also canvassing companies are very expensive.
the cost of the 10,000 leaflets to print and deliver is £1,015.00 - if I get 50 customers = 0.5% return then they each cost £20.30.
Based on our clean prices a canvassing company to get me 50 customers would charge £35 - £50 per customer - yes they would be more tightly packed but this really isnt an issue for us due to the way we work.

Blimey! Where are you getting them printed and who's delivering them??
I'm getting 10k leaflets printed and delivered for my other business and it's costing me about £650...

anyone see the flyer del company on dragons den the other week??
they seem to get very good results - london based
-
Yeah, seems pricey. Plenty of suppliers doing 10k for less than £300 and thats A5 300gsm gloss, 250gsm is generally less than £200 I think?
Does depends what he means by "never been done before?" though I guess.

I WOULD IMAGINE THE EXTRA COST IS IN GETTING YOUR LEAFLET DELIVERED ON ITS OWN.

My leaflet is being delivered on its own to...
-
There would be an extra cost for being delivered solo in comparison to 2/3 leaflets at a time. That being said, I doubt that is what he is referring to? There are hundreds of companies delivering them individually and plenty of people out there willing to do it as well.
-
my leaflets are A3 folded brochures not flyers I order them in pallets of 30,000 at a cost of £1,425.00 which believe me is a good price for what we get
the delivery cost is £50.00 plus vat per thousand. we are getting a 10% discount on our first order
Yes it is Jog post who I saw on dragons den this week. I have spoken with the owner today and yesterday who tells me they are swamped.
Since starting this thread my delivery day has been put back to 11th sep as they are so busy
I am very impressed with the methods they are using.

Lee.
good luck with that, wondered if you seen dragons den the other night ? defo worth watching at 44.35 into the programme as there is a business with a different approach to leaflet distribution.

Impressive stuff the dragons den clip. Apart from its been done before, nothing different apart from it being called jog post.
I still think leaflet distributors miss one main point. which i care not to share... ;D
The dragons to me were taking a punt at the guys as opposed to thier business. Well done though i wouldn't of thought something so simple could get such a good reaction...top marks! :D
-
I watched the programme too and was quite shocked that none of the Dragons went into the costs very deeply at all. I don't think anyone mentioned the wage bill or vat etc. Nothing at all ???
That's their problem.
-
I have a lot of experience doing mass leaflet campaigns, I built my business this way. I would even go as far as saying that I doubt there is another window cleaning company that has done as many as we have in the uk.
ok I havnt used them yet but the thing I like is that a team leader spends the day driving around the area being done to monitor the guys that deliver, I will be going along on the first day, and will see with my own eyes whats going on.
I will also point out that that is a fair price for solus delivery and the volume out in one day is also impresive

if only you were there you could have put those dragens right :D have you ever thought of mentor for them ?
the fact they had 4 dragons bidding tells me they were well and truely on the right track and if it dont work out to plan then thats ok cos that bloke can get lots of business as a ross kemp look a like :D :D
-
I didn't say they were right or wrong ::)
Normally they go into the business with more detail. On this particular one it seemed as if they had all the information they wanted before the guys even opened their mouths. Just seemed unusual that's all. Understand smart arse?

I saw Dragons Den and was wondering how they pay staff . If this is a solo delivery @£50 per thousand I cannot see where Dragon Debra is going to get the profit unless the deliveriers are in training for the Olympics.
How long can someone actually jog for in a shift?
Given number of Window Cleaners around I am amazed that Window Cleaners get a 1 in 200 return.
But hey as Debbora says you know your numbers
I am also amazed she did not quiz JOG more ON THe Numbers
Also what is to stop Hillary or Duncan setting up a Rival Jog . I just could see a Dragoon yet alone three wanting to invest in this type of company usally a reason not to invest
But im not a Multi Millionaire so I will not mentoring Debs .
And as she said she actually bought the two directors , who obviously have the drive which is laking by most who appear in the Den
And they were actually trading
-
i think they should av gone with hilary , she,s already in the business and could open a lot of doors for em,great idea though...
-
I am fascinated as I did run a team of distributors
But did fall down due to costs
So been checking out . Jogers and Dor to Dor Each claiming an average of 1000 leaflets in 5hrs is the norm
-
Was Hilary the one with the shoulders? If so she had the vans I believe that could have been utilized for the drop offs. I would guess they must use students or the like for the delivery of the leaflet so would doubt they had a very substantial contract.
There's a guy local to me who turns over £50,000+ on leaflet drops.

For those saying "why didn't they question them on vat/expenses/costs/whatever"?
Have you considered that the initial pitch has been massively edited and what is 5-6 mins on telly will actually be more like a 30-60 minute pitch?
Those dragons havnt got to where they are by throwing £100k's at business'/ideas without knowing everything there is to know about that business.
Makes great tv though.

I would suspect 60 minute pitch minimum plus a bundle of supporting documentation.

I didnt know grant michel did leafleting

what was the respone like from the 10,000 jog post did ???

in the end it was 12,500. that was 5 weeks ago now and we even got a new customer from that drop yesterday!
I was very impressed by the way they worked and the results have been fantastic! hits to our website went up 5x in the following week and so far we have had 42 new customers and a couple of bigger money 1offs, one of which was a driveway jetwash which was £450 and took me a day - that alone almost covered the cost of the delivery.
we are not doing anymore leaflets this year now but I plan to use them several times next year.
