I'm no chemist but the orange colour I believe is bleaching when the bacteria acts on the urine and produces a very high pH.

For extraction a strong acid will be required to put the salts back into solution. You can either mix up your own stock, or buy something like craftex urine neutraliser.

Wynne, I think you should point out that other urine neutralisers are available  :-X

Or is it a clever play on words telling people to buy "something like it" but not that one!

Spies everywhere, getting paranoid now.

Craftex make good products and you don't pay for the hype and the advertising. I recommend them wholeheartedly.  :)

I heard they mash up kittens to create an anti-allergy product and the carpet grooms are made from the whiskers of the Giant Panda.

There are a variety of manufactures so you can give an appraisal of the one you have used.

It also depends on how long it has been in the carpet and to material the carpet is made  from

Tip I got off Mark Powell if I remember
it correctly.
50/50 F and F Rinse in a jug with hot
water dribbled onto the stain and left
for 30 minutes then extracted.
Worked for me on an 80/20.
I also removed and replaced part of the
underlay that was affected.

I have a very naught Cat at present and although bio clean is working ok for me  if I treat straight away  I did take a peep elsewhere

Apparently M power is good at removing the smell or Nemesis

M power is very effective at removing the smell and breaking it down, but must admit I do not find it removes the stains, at home now going to a urine job will try the 50% fabric rinse suggestion.

Thanks for that Ian,

Was looking at M Power although have heard good things about chemspec helpmate / spray n go. Have attached photos, Urine hasnt gone onto backing of rug. Might just do as usual &  extract and see if they come out first. Have it at home and customer not in a rush for it.

M power followed by sprayed on hot 50% F&F rinse on urine areas worked a treat, delighted customer booked more work!
