Title: Hey Fella's
Post by: Mark Lawrence on August 28, 2011, 09:24:09 pm
Watch what you say, as all this talk about the Airflex....and a host of other manufacurer/supplier stuff - will get posts locked straight away???

All I did was reply to a thread on customer data base - about a printer someone was asking about, and the thread gets locked due to 'advertising' ...I dont understand ??? And yet the 'airflex' and tons of others dont get locked ???

I'm really confused, is something strange going on or is it me ???

Mark

Think its daft as cleaners mate could probably be the most usefull thing any carpet cleaner could have so why not let them know about it. It isn't the manufacturer who is posting about it but other cleaners.

Crazy decision to lock a post about cleaners mate.

It wasn't the owner of the software that started the post, but rather a fan of the product - exactly the same as any of us saying that a particular machine is good or a particular cleaning solution.

We don't need babysitting !!

Oh yes, so it has! how funny!
Was is because of cleaners mate or the printer advise?
Thanks for the tip anyway mark - I'd never even thought about invoicing on the job before.... I guess it would make things a lot easier maybe meaning we wouldn't have to visit to quote first  - or that we could easily upsell when there.

I seem to remember some guy on here a while back with a rival product that was hideously expensive and that thread ran and ran. The reason being he said he was going to buy advertising on here, not sure whether he did or not.

When you think about it, we talk about products all the time. Imagine locking a post on Prochem's Powerburst saying it's advertising. I know it's not an easy job but this one is a bad call Ian.

Agreed, and anything that can improve the income and save time for carpet cleaners is something we can't afford not to know about in the current climate.

But there are two more topics on the first page that could also be considered advertising, Prochem Upgrade and Air Flex Storm to mention just two. I thought moderators were supposed to moderate, not to act as censors.

Exactly, great product being recommended by carpet cleaners for carpet cleaners being classed as advertising?

Maybe a mod can explain?

Thats a very good idea!!!!!!!!  It would be nice to have an explanation as to whats the difference talking about the airflex storm/ the new jaguar and cleaners mate? I'm sure we deserve a reasonable explanation! Why is it seen as advertising but the others arent?

I can remember a thread where i talked about how great my new phoenix was! (and still do think it's great) that never got locked!

Don't mean to cause any trouble, just asking some simple questions so as not to cross the line when i'm saying how good a product is and also what i can and cannot recommend to my fellow cleaners!

Regards

Ironman!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 ;D

as mods we are supposed to keep an eye out for companies who try to bypass the normal advertising route on CIU by getting members to start posts to advertise products, this is only fair to the companies who do pay to advertise, their is a pattern withsome products like C/M that when an update comes a long a post is started to ask as question about 'databases' or like paul started the latest 'one 'just got an email'

some might see it as heavy handed moderation but it is really about being fair to all companies out there, some who don't have a fan-base to push their products. The banner above  is a paid for advertisement by AmtechUK they have to spend money to advertise here is it fair for  another company to get a mate to start a post to compete against them.

In Ians  opinion the post he locked was was an example of this so he locked it.

Thanks for the explanation Mike - I don't agree with it in this instance, but thanks anyway.
