Top of page two here in very wet Cornwall!
I'm logged into google, as I'm on google maps - I'm pretty sure it favours location and closer businesses get nearer the top?
If I was looking for a tradesperson I'd search with the county or nearest big town too

page 2 falkirk and page 6 if include the town name

Couldn't find you in pages 1-5 in Lincolnshire.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
I feel a bit naive now, what I have done is tell you what area of the country you aren't ranking and you have put that right, school boy error on my part I think, but well done anyway :-[
-
No Stu, it isnt a school boy error, you cant do that. You cant do that with any search engine let alone Google.
In addition any changes you make to a web page will not be detected by Google until it re-crawls that page, which isn't likely to be more often than monthly on a run of the mill (non-blog, non sales) company website.
Google last crawled the site on the 7th August, nothing done since then will affect how it appears by Google.

The browser you use can influence search results as well as being logged into Google. These are things that the end user does not the webmaster.

You are probably right Matt, not that it bothers me as when you stick a town in the search I still rank well, but how can it go from page 2 to top ranking in less than 12 hours, or is that my browsing history kicking in?
-
Theres over 80 criteria that affect where any site ranks on a search engine results, take your pick mate ;D
-
bottom of page one, using FIREFOX not internet explorer.
-
bottom of page one using Opera not firefox or internet explorer. 8)
-
Bottom of page 1, using Firefox in Essex.
-
Bottom of page 1, we are in Swindon
-
Bottom of page 1 in east Sussex mate...

Thanks everyone, much appreciated.
It seems as there is a little bit of a difference in different areas.
We are aiming for the number 1 spot, we will have to wait and see!
-
Of course, much depends on how you set up your page view on the search engine (10 results per page or 100 results etc - or any other number you're allowed to select). Mine is bottom of page 1 in a 10 setting - but you would know that as we are in the same area :)

Hi Paul
How are you doing its been a while since we've seen you
