as above drunk lastnite and somehow broke my ankle, what would you guys do speak to each custys explaining im going be late (very time consuming) or make a letter up to post to each custy,
is there anything i can claim for being off work sick pay from goverment etc
-
u can claim ssp, i think, but if you get working tax credits it will stop, they wont pay ur mortgage but will pay rent, get someone to cover your work, as some custy might just leave you
-
Sorry to hear that, I would give each customer a letter explaining, I'm sure they will understand, as for claiming, I'm sure you can get statutory sick pay from the government, I think you need to go to the docs, then fill out a form ect, see here http://www.dwp.gov.uk/advisers/claimforms/sc1_print.pdf

I got the screws taken out of my leg 3 years ago and got £60 per week ssp (stat Sick pay).
Whats worse is they pay it fortnightly £120.
Sorry to hear bout your leg, and it aint much of a comfort, but get well soon.

Gav Cam will doe em for ya. ;D

I spent 6 months out last year due to a fall/jump, half of that in a wheel chair - 8 fractures at the ankle base - lucky 2 walk again (if i can call it that) but hopefully yours is not as bad - a customer letter is a must to let them know about your ankle (not how u did it obviously) as trying 2 speak with each 1 would take ages (by the time u got to the last custmer ud prob b walking ok ;D) - then keep them reg informed with your progress

feel for ya mate.how many weeks are you gonna be off work?must be 8 weeks or so.i sprained my ankle badly in april and had 3 weeks off.that was bad enough.my ankle still not right though.thank God im mainly wfp or i reckon id of had more like 5 weeks off.i still get the odd twinge in it here and there.
i always have an emergency fund as back up but im sure you can claim some sort of sick pay.
best wishes for a speedy recovery.can you not hobble about to a few customers here and there and tell them?also phone up as many as you can and tell them to pass it on to your other customers that youll be late getting round.
in my experience most customers will be understanding if your well established.if they see the state of you in plaster/crutches theyll be more than likely stay with you and await your return.
regards

Sorry to hear you misfortume mate. Might be best not to mention that you broke it while 'peed' in your letter ;D go for the 'sob' story - rescuing an old ladies cat from a tree perhaps..
Good luck

Really sorry to hear your bad news. Every tradesmans nightmare. If I break my ankle then they might as well shoot me with a couple of horse tranquilisers as well because everything would be gone.
Hope you get work sorted. All the best.
-
will let you no 2moro when its xrayed but the bruise has spread from ankle to my toes now and i can feel a click when move my foot towards me so assume its broke, plaster will be on 6 weeks,my sister going come with me to collect money owed on friday, then unless i sort someone to clean will tell custys im going be over a month late
-
very bad news m8.
my advise would be to get someone in to help you.,and go round with them.then as a pay back build up your work and keep them on.
i broke my foot several yrs ago and had 6 months out.
i was insured through the aa at a premium of 11.80 a month.and it paid me 200 a week at the time.saved my bacon along with the guy i got in to help.
o yes i got fa from ssp.

I fractured my wrist 2 years ago, luckily i had income protection insurance which paid 60 per cent of my gross income for up to 12 months, it is also tax deductable.
