is their any of the people that are good with websites on here able to tell me how to put a large image as a background on a website without slowing down page loading time
plus is word press any good

It differs depending on what you want on the background?
If it's say a photo of your team and vans, then the only way to keep loading speeds down is the compromise on the quality of the image, which will have a negative effect to be honest.

im looking at having a large picture as a background on my website the picture size is 1100px by 600px but not sure if the picture needs to be on a different server like a free photo hosting site and just put code on my site

An image shouldn't slow load speed down too much. Its not dial up anymore!
Try it. Check online and if its slow try an online image hoster and pop in the code to see if that makes a difference.

Have the image as a .gif file. Fast loading time but you lose qautiy. Never go for jpeg for a back ground image. You could get away with a .png file.
