How are you finding work?
Been doing some canversing but everyone has windies, been calling on houses sold, give them a price, and its er, let me speak to my husband, then hear nothing, had loads move, tried to pick up the new owners, tell them the price, and they say they will think about it, again hear nothing, I'm finding I'm finding that those that do want a price I'm having to quote lower than I was 7 years ago to get them.
Then I hear of others on here that are inundated with calls, and others going out conversing are getting loads of work.
Perhaps I'm just in an area where there are a lot of window cleaners.

I'm in waltham abbey junc 26 m25.
My dads been doing some canvassing woodford area.
Nothing doing, lost a couple due to moving not that hopeful for new ones.
Have picked up some out of the blue; recomendation seems to be how i'm getting em.

what are your prices lee, as a lot are looking at wc as a luxury

remember learning that luxury goods/services don't suffer in a reccesion as rich can always afford ;)
I like the 50+ semi and detached brigade no mortgage/next to none. :D

Im near Colchester and i never really expect to pick much up this time of year, everyone is on their jollys so theyre not thinking about the windows! i lose some and gain a few its just how it goes :)

Hi Lee, I am in Benfleet, Essex, I was up your way last week cleaning windows on Dunmow St Mary's Primary School.
Anyway as for pricing I know what you mean, look at these prices I have copied off a window cleaners website,
2 to 3 bedroom bungalow - £6 to £ 9
3 bedroom semi-detached house - £ 7 to £ 10
4 bedroom detached house - £ 8 to £ 12
One-off conservatory clean £10 - £25 (dependant on size and height)
Soffits and facsias cleaned on a 3 bed semi - £ 10 as a one-off or an additional £5 if we clean your windows.
He is in my area, but not bothered by his prices, I have my work and I am sure he gets work with those prices. I can't see how he can clean sofits and fascias for £10 though ( might sub mine out to him and make money for doing nothing ).
The problem is window cleaners are every where now, they see it as easy money, most see it as cash and its easy to get in to.
Keep canvassing you will pick up more work.

I know you pick up Work and looses work, but having to price lower than I was when I first started is annoying, I'm not expensive either, just average.

I'm the same I always worry about my prices but I simply just tell them I'm not the cheapest and you get what you pay for.
Go ahead and get it cheaper they soon realise that cheaper is normally due to them being crap...
It'll be the same thing as usual come the winter they wc's will dwindle and that's when you should be canvassing. At least you'll know the majority of new customers will stick with you...

Those prices wouldn't be too bad in Plymouth; apart from the fascias ;)

I think the window prices are fairly sensible, its the fascias I think are too cheap wherever you are

lee i charge £12 ave 3 bed semi no connie
from £15 detached 4 bed.
Bungalows £10-12
