Title: Promotions/ offers
Post by: jasonl on August 10, 2011, 09:51:41 am
We are brainstorming for promotions , offers and deals  on carpet cleaning .

Our aim is to have a monthly offer , such as

3 for 2

2 for 1

10% off

etc , what have others used ? and what has worked ?

I'm currently offering living room cleans for £25 on facebook - on the premise that I am building a new picture gallery and need more before and after shots. All the customers I've been to so far have agreed to have more rooms done at the same time when I've visited, and I've gained a few referals.

Id be interested to know what patter you use to get more rooms done.

Do they book when taking £25 offer or after you cleaned

Simple Ian....................." While I'm here and everything is set up are there any other areas you'd like me to clean "

There's almost always an additional area they'd like done and by giving a discounted price ( because you're already on site ) you will often get additional work.

When I worked with a guy many years ago this is how we made up for his low pricing.

Ian,
I say something along the lines of: 'setting up the equipment is the most time consuming part, so while I'm here if you'd like me to clean your hall/stairs/dining room at the same time I can do it altogether for an extra £10/£15/£20'. The way I look at it is that the original job covers my costs and a bit more, anything extra is a bonus.

3 for 2 is dyeing a death from my experience, 2 for 1 does look desperate and I once tried it and the uptake   was quite good probably no more than 3 for 2 but I found the figures didn't work out also (and I know you have heard this before) I can't think of one customer I have retained from that offer as it was too cheap and just got one offs looking for a deal. IMO you need to get larger jobs but on the cheap so to get this you have to offer great value but with quite a few carpets. One CC in the NE offers £10 a carpet but you do have to have 3 done to qualify then whilst there you could go for clean and scotchgard hopefully you can get your average up but still offer a bargain, 3 carpets at £60 is cheap but 3 carpets with protector for £90 is beneficial to both parties.

Giving away one of our secrets here;

£10.00 - £15.00 - £20.00  M & S Gift Card with every clean booked in September (depends on value of clean, you set the value)

Simple, cheap and everyone can use a M&S card.  ;)

Repeat it again closer to Christmas and watch the bookings come in.
