Title: Di resin bottle malfunction
Post by: Smudger on August 09, 2011, 09:19:52 pm
During the last fill up my ro started acting up and water production dropped rapidly, i had a play around with
hoses and connectors etc.. and managed to fill the IBC's

Today started up all running good until i connected the 2nd di bottle when  the water production stopped and the
back pressure of water started to make the connectors leak.

i've taken the top off and blown through the inlet & outlet and it all seems clear - re assembled and the same
thing happened again.

any thoughts on solving this problem ?

cheers

What sort of set up is it? One of those gpd jobs or a 4040 with twin di's?

Merlin RO

followed by a 19 ltr di vessel and an 11 ltr di vessel

Can you swap your di's over for 2 minutes to see if its a di problem or connector issue? Might be a loose riser

The two possibilities that spring immediately to mind are
(1) The second vessel is blocked with resin )possibly in the riser tube)
(2) One or both of the connectors on the second vessel is/are faulty.

Especially if you are using hozelock style, try some new connectors (after ensuring no blockage).

Another thing that comes to mind is ensuring that you have the in/out the right way round.

just had a very similar problem.
turns out the short hose i use from the di to tank has a water stop end on one end and i had put it the wrong way round.
so i got soaked disconnecting the pressurised hose to take it out to test before i realised.

All sorted and many many thanks to Doug at Daqua !

there are 2 types of riser - straight tube with bulb end OR one like i have which is sleeved and contains
a fine mesh filter inside - this needs to be unscrewed and cleaned - hey presto full uninterupted water flow!
