Post by: charles911 on July 27, 2011, 08:30:20 pm
Hi. i have a alltec tripple vac. Ive got a job on tomorrow and still have some water in tank with liquid wool safe. I dont want to pump it all out and damage my punp like the last machine i had. how far can it be empty'd?

can air go through these pumps at all or would it die?

It will cut out thanks to an in-built micro-switch and providing your machine's level, nothing bad will happen... :) There will be a bit of solution left in the tank, just above the intake filter. I usually empty the rest completely with the vac hose....

Turn the vacs on, leave the pump off,  suck all the water out of the solution tank.

Fill up with whatever you want, turn the pump on.

Is this method of sucking a large volume of solution from C/T to W/T ok for the vacs?

Providing you have sucked some de-foamer up and perhaps added some cold water, there shouldn't be any problems. Also running the vacs dry with the W/T lid up after EVERY job is vital in keeping your vacs in tip-top condition!

Oh, and don't plunge the hose directly into the S/T, it can cause problems... :)

You can get a small drain plug fitted at the bottom of the clean tank..ie a small tap like fitting as long as its plumbed in ok..

Just dip the edge of the hose cuff into the solution, let it suck it up gradually.  If you go too mad and the motors start to "labour" ease up ;)
