it states on the l e z site that large vans to be affected by the zone. i have a 2001 scudo and has come up non complacement to use after jan 2012 since when and how is a scudo a large van...ohhh great new van time. anybody else got to change vans?.

There are zillions of blokes who are going to have to change their vans including a fair few who won't realise and get nicked - £2000 fine.
At least you have sussed it before the event . Get a Polish registered van seems to be best option, no congestion charge, no LEZ. no tax, no MOT no insurance, no parking tickets, no speed cameras, no bus lane cameras, no box junction cameras, no traffic light cameras.

Ive noticed a hell of a lot of the vans going on ebay due to this emmisions scenario, aparrantly its over £2000 for filter, is this correct? :o
Im after a cheap reliable van with mot and tax none with big miles for between £500-£1200

The last time I looked into this you needed to have a van registered after April 1st 2006 to qualify for the new legislation, although I'd advise you check that for yourself.

You can check here, my oldest is 05 and it's fine

Evening Chaps,
I've been looking in to this a lot as I live in Eltham, south east london. so I'm right on top of it.
The lowest weight limit that comes into force in Jan 2012 is 1.205 tonnes upwards, anything over that has to be over a 52 plate I think.
Luckily I have a 96 berlingo van which 1.155 tonnes so I don't have to upgrade.

There is something about "Car derived vans" being exempt like the Astra and the Escort. The Berlingo would fall into this catagory too. Presumably they can't ban the van if they don't ban the car.

Hi Vince,
What I have foud out is that in the case of berlingo is that mine is a 96 but in 98 they fitted power steering which takes the weight to 1.255 tonnes which would mean you would have to upgrade.

Sounds like common sense but you'll find that car derived refers to the Escort Combi and Astra Combo, ie vans that are essentially cars with filled in Windows and car suspension not van bodies with leaf springs.
