Title: Robert Saunders....
Post by: justin 88 on July 26, 2011, 06:50:27 am
Hi all,

Have had my business for 2 years now and things are going well (this is definetly not a bragging email/contest!) I just thought i would write and give credit where credit is due. I know Robert from Altec has got bad press here before (customer service not being one of their strong points i agree), but his marketing and pricing strategy has worked fantastically for me (and yes, i am aware the concept is american and it is not all his own work!) I was told by many experienced cleaners that 51p per sq ft was too high, people wouldnt pay it but marketing to the right potential clients it works a treat. If your a newbie starting up Altec is the first place i would recommend you go because if you cant get the phone ringing you will fail. So, a BIG thank you to Robert, without him i would have failed. :)

Credit, where credit's due I say.... :) 51 pence a square ft is fantastic. Have courage and believe in yourself and your business. My sales patter is not all that brilliant to be asking for that sort of money, but I am happy making a fair days pay for a fair days work.

but Colin you didn't pay £2000+ to learn how to ask for big value jobs......

to me that is a lot of jobs to do to make it up, and selling is not an easy game

I did 3 years in timeshare,.............. you burn out eventually

to the point that I hate sales now.....

and I was paid very well to learn every sales trick in the book, and I learnt them very very well..

So good luck to the fast trackers.....

I am with you Colin a fair price for a good job done

Mr J Brown

I was tempted to remove your post.

The reason being it is only your second post and you are giving a testimonial.

If you had come on the Forum and helped people I would not have battered an eyelid

In a way it is this kind of tactic that gets Robert who I think has done a lot for this industry  a bad name,

Apart from that welcome to the Forum and we look forward to your contributions in the future

Ian,
I have been a memebr for ages but for some reason i could no longer log on!! I (Justin Lee Premium Carpet Care), thats why i had to re-register. i have talked to numerous members on here!!!t is ridiculous to say you would remove this post, what about the negative posts regarding Altec? This is a POSITIVE post.I was just giving some advice to a new starter that maybe they could ask Altec for help if like me they had no idea. I have been given great advice (by other cleaners giving testimonials!!) on here and just wanted to share something on my limited experience.

Also i did not pay 2k, just went on a discovery day at £37! ;)

Colin, thanks for your positive input

and thanks for the phone calls, much appreciated show of support

i went on a discovery day and picked up tips that i use in my business,i am not a fast tracker but i admire people that give it a go.
So have you gone into the full system? if so what is the main thing you do to enable you to get the price you have mentioned?

Hi Gary,

my database is packed with AB clients in herts and n london. Started off doing free cleans and offerening the complete cleaning package with a first class domestic cleaning company and with an oven u franchisee. They already had an established business so we now all sell each others services under one name. I have been lucky in cleaning some high profile houses who have given me excellent testimonials to use on their roads much to my surprise!! I have been a business development manager for 10 years so sales and marketing are hopefully my stronger points, i am not in the business to rip people off either, and in fact a company in london charge £1 per sq ft so i am not considered expensive. Also, a great thing for me was joining BNI, have picked up some great work/contracts there. We also do all the cleans for 3 high end letting/estate agents, they have had cheaper cleaners but for them its a great time saving exercise to get one complete cleaning company to do the lot.

i did not go into the FT system as it were, just wanted to know a fair price! bearing in mind i have been out the game for a long time i thought i would ask the experts and Altec's name came up and they were fantastic (how Ian see's this is as a negative post is beyond me!!) I thought 51p was the norm, and as a new company it was easy to start out at that price and stick to it!!
