Title: canvassing costs?
Post by: Lee GLS on July 23, 2011, 08:17:00 pm
How much do people you use canvassers pay? There is a guy on gum tree advertising for round building or expansion and hes quoted me 3X the price of the house, you pay 1/2 up front, and the other 1/2 after the first clean. His name is Tom Cronin, any one used him in the east/south east area?

Ive done it all before, just want to expand a bit, there isnt the work here like there are in some areas, its littered with window cleaners, when you go out its got one, got one, got one, got one, ect, if im paying someone they might have more enthusiasm than me as they need to get work to get paid

why woudl they have more enthusiasm then you, it is ur business, they wont be bothered if they dont get any thing they will get paid there hourly rate or not come back

put out flyers offering to beat any one by at least 10% (not under cutting its called business)

if you can get up for knocking then you arnt in control of your business,

why would you offer to undercut anyone by 10%.  that's not business, its just amateurish  :P

if you advertise yourself as the cheapest you'll get the clients who always want the cheapest price anyhow, so when somebody else cheaper comes along they'll leave you.

advertise the benefits of your service, and quote a price you're happy to do the job for.  that is business

They wont get paid, because they only get money for the work that they pick up, not an hourly rate, hence more enthusiasm than me!!!

Good Reply, very undercuts, that just bad business sence long term.

Lee, why not pay the canvasser 2 x the clean and pay in 2 stages so you keep a retention incase they cancel after first clean.
I have tried loads of different ways to pay canvassers, it is a ballache, but you get the numbers if you pay the good money. ;)

Offer a 20% discount for all new cleans in first 2 weeks of August, hopefully they become regular.

Also offer existing Customers a Loyalty Scheme where every customer they recommend they will get a free clean themselves to the same value. If they get you 3 customers then you clean their house for free 3 times. You will be surprised how many people ending up doing your canvassing for you at bus stops, shopping, hairdressers etc.

In effect you are only paying 1x a clean
