Can I ask how you approch people after knocking on their doors is it just a"Hello are you looking for a window cleaner?"
I dont enjoy knocking and find it hard to ask, but when I have done it its very rewarding.
-
yes thats all i do
i hate doing it
but need must and all that
-
i just say
''hi sorry to bother you, can i intrest you in a quote for your window cleaning?''
short and sweet, dressed in full uniform ironed and smart
i get loads of compliments on how smart and proffesional i come across
be polite and confident, even if they say no i say ''thankyou for you time''
i had someone come after me after saying no, and then i got a job of them because i was so polite
works well for me
thanks colin

When you say " dressed in full uniform "; is that window cleaning uniform or you dress as a fireman to impress the ladies when they answer the door????
-
hey what ever gets you the work ;D

Drop the apology ...... its great news your bringing cos theyve been after a window cleaner for ages (thats whats in my head when I knock)
"Hi Im a local window cleaner looking for a few extra customers in this area - can I give you a price / or / do you need a window cleaner"
-
The "I'm sorry to bother you" part is a must imo because if they were in the middle of doing something important like watching Corrie or benders for eg you've already said sorry get it?? ;D

I went canvassing once. The lady said 'no thanks' I said can I leave my number got the house the daughters house and their offices. The husband called me later cos the wife said I seemed a nice young man. Still got the contract 7 years later. their previous guy was a bit grumpy apparently.
