Hi guys,
I've got an 18 year old lad starting next week any ideas what to pay him without taking the P?
At 18 I was on about £75 a week but I'm guessing they want more now.
Has anybody got any ideas what is reasonable?
He has no experience too.
Thanks in advance,
Dean.

if he is an apprentise it is 2.50 a hour other wise it the miminum wage at worst
-
If he's 18 & no experience, then i'd say to pay min wage with an increase as he gets better
-
min wage for starters with a couple of raises dependent on how many houses he can clean in a day, and also his punctuality etc etc
-
min wage and bonus for hitting goals
-
dean do i know this new lad ;) ;)
-
Min wage plus attendance bonus £30-£45 per month
-
how do you work out your attendance bonus? is it punctuality and turning up to work every day?
-
If they miss a day ,all bonus gone. :'(

£6.50 per hour, 3 month trial period with review on ££'s at that point.
You can then see the progress for yourself and make the final decision.
No sick pay and deductions for lateness, you can always reward for good time keeping and good work standards with an ad hoc bonus in the 3 month period :)

helen,
what do you mean by no sick pay? or do you not employ your WCs? dont get me wrong, if i didnt have to pay holidays or sick pay i;d be OVER THE MOON ;D
-
first 3 months you don't have to pay sick pay etc.
after that you do.
-
to answer the question though, I think 6.50 an hr is quite good for a new start.
bonuses are the key though.
make them realise that if they miss a day they'll lose out on their bonus. Its fine if they have been with you for say 6 months or more and they have a day off sick - we all get sick, you shouldn't penalise them then.
I offer my guys the chance to have every friday off if they have the work done before then, paid of course.
