Hi,
Ive been asked today for the first time to quote an office in Manchester,it has 2 floors and is 435 square ft.The carpet is just normal office carpet tiles and isnt really that dirty.This will be the first time ive been asked to quote for commercial work and really want to get it right.Please can anybody help with some advice on the best way to quote this? thanks

Theres no right or wrong price. You should know what you want to earn per hour and you should be able to judge how long a job will take you. Then do the maths. It really is as easy as that. Forget about trying to guess what price they want to hear. I've not got quotes in the past because I've been too cheap and others where I've been too expensive. So as I said, just multiply your hourly rate by the time the job takes to do.

Perhaps a good one to practise on and not worry too much if you don't get the job as it's not exactly the biggest of offices.
Apart from measuring and assessing the level of soiling you should also consider such factors as access to water and drainage if you are doing HWE with a porty. (Check also the water pressure out of the tap, and if there is a sink big enough to get your bucket under.)
Other factors should include considering the time to quote also needs to be factored in. If its city centre then you'll also need to think about time taken to get there, how close to the office you can park and costs of parking. (I'm doing a Manchester city centre job shortly and my parking costs are going to be around £20. Not a huge amount but still has to be considered.)
You will also get different responses depending upon whether you talk to the decision maker or simply to somebody who is gathering prices.
