Hello Terry, its colin from Blackpool!
as an ex window cleaner , getting into carpet cleaning was the best move i've ever made
WHO CARES IF IT RAINS ANYMORE
as for pricing, well thats a topic of varied opinions
i personally charge per squre foot of cleanable carpet, with various services to suite each client
i always see the job before booking it, so not only does the customer get an exact quote but i get to see what the job entails
hope this helps
p.s i charge 45 p per sf or 70p per sf if protecting
get roughly 8/10 jobs
obviously the bigger the job, the bigger the discount the customer gets!

2 Hours to do a 3 bed house ??? ??? ???
Dont think so, unless you are doing a crap job!
Approx. £180.00
Phil
-
I agree with Phil
Even empty three and a half hours or more for one person to do it right :o
£160+
-
Hi
180 for a three bed house that takes 3 1/2 hours. I would think that it would be more like £250 for that amount of time.

Standard empty 3 bed house ........2 hours not unrealistic with my hydramaster boxxer thats pre-hoovering, pre-spraying and rinsing
(and having tea and buscuits)

;)Thanks guys I think its also down to how dirty the carpets are to :-\we have been doing carpets for many years but we are now putting this first instead of window cleaning,y ??? the window cleaning has changed so much and there are now to many in it,the west end is so cuttroat, and it is a nightmare just to work up there,so we are now doing local in very nice areas carpet cleaning, doing papers booklets, flyers etc the prices we are getting for a 30ft by 12ft front room and hall stairs landing,£115 to 150 is this fair dinkam ;)
also we use asbys machine and use prochem powder blue,we find to be good, anything else you pros got tips for ;D

Three-bedroom house, assuming fully furnished, approximately 3 1/2 hours, £175 hope this helps
-
2hrs, 3 1/2hrs....don't know how you do it, 3 1/2 fully furnished.... someones having a laugh.
-
Why is 3 1/2 hrs a laugh for fully furnished?
-
I did one for £288.00
lightly furnished took 3hours very standard no bad stains just a few draught marks around the doors.

empty 3 bed house we charge £120-£150.and can do it properley within 2 hours or so.
-
Surely the amount of time depends on how many operators are doing the job. As for anybody who takes less than 3 hours (working solo)........either you are not moving furniture and only cleaning carpet thats visible or you are not cleaning to the correct methods i.e thorough pre vac, pre spray & agitate, rinse, groom. Not forgetting putting pads under furniture.
It takes half an hour to pre vac properly including moving furniture etc. Then 20-30 mins set up / drain down time (less if using t/m) so those of you who claim to take 1 and a half hours are saying you can pre-spray, rinse and replace furniture in 30-40 mins - thats a 3 bedroomed house. You must be the ones who are charging £10 any room any size including protector! ;D
-
Rogue Traders!
-
well that is ridiculous if the average sale is £140.00 for a 3 bed house it hardly works out at £10.00 per room does it. and yes you might well have 2 people doing it so nothing is missed out .so hardly rogue traders. and perhaps equipment is of such good standard ,and maybe auto fill. and dump. so yes you can work for less without being an inferior product
-
Read my post again - those of you who claim to do the job SOLO in 1 and a half hours.
-
Springgleam......howmany operators do you use to do the job 'properly' ;) on 2 hours?
-
Steve, agree totally. S & D springs to mind.
-
That auto fill / dump machine must walk out of the van by itself, into the kitchen, fill itself, set itself up etc whilst the operator(s) are doing the pre vac. Then ready to go! ::)
-
I used to take about 3 hours using a good portable but i can honestly say i can easily knock off an hour or more now using my truck mount ....no i dont cut corners......there will be 2 answers as to how long this job will take depending on portable or truckmount users....i know cause ive used both.
-
Bob
I totally agree with you, when I first got my T/M I used to get embarrassed at the time I was getting through the job, but I guess my shoulders must have got broader!!
-
I still cannot see how you can do the job in 2 hours if you are pre vaccing properly. This involves moving the furniture to vacuum. After this you will have to move furniture again when you do the clean. I could only believe it if there was no furniture to move and no pre-spotting.
Does your 2 hours start from when you arrive at the customers home and end when you drive away with £180 in your back pocket?
-
My comments are based on an empty house. I can see no mention of a furnished or unfurnished house mentioned.
-
Thanks John. ;) I rest my case
-
depends how much you wish too sweat, and my TM does get out the van and go too the kitchen for water and then the bathroom to dump doesnt everyones or did I get a bargin !!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
who cares, as long as cust is happy and u get paid !!!
thats what its all about aint it ?
-
;)your thoughts most welcome,I see do you or are you expected to vac in your costs ??? I have noticed to say the least I thought the customer would do this before you land on a job, some have not as well I must say ::)would you use this as a nice sale pitch,ie we hoover before we carpet clean ??? :-\
regards
Terry

" Before we commence the actaul cleaning process we use an Industry standard vacuum to remove the loose soil from your carpet"
-
Could it be some people are "over hoovering" what i mean is hoovering for an hour when not really necessary?
-
Vacuuming removes 80% of the dry soil, which would otherwise turn to sludge as soon as water hits it..... That's what I was taught on my training courses.....
-
so hoover it is then :-\
-
Hi Guys,
The vacuuming debate is always different on line and when CC's get together ;)
Cheers,
Doug
