Anyone answering "no" is in for something of a shock when they knock someone down and then the Police find out their van insurance isn't valid.

What would be the point in I insuring without it, if you had a accident your motor would be towed away to compound for insurers to inspect the damage, they'll see there's a tank in the back and won't pay out, so for the sake of a bit more penny's why not insure with tank.

so if you were carrying 25 lt barrels let say 10 off them i know most insurance company's are ok with this then what happens when your van get taken away and they open the back door just to find them all over the place. what about a builder that carrying a mixer are they going to not pay out because the builder did not tell them. beleave it or not its cheaper to drive a car and tow a trailer with the system in it  the insurance company's are scamming us all big time

its only a mod if you screw in to the floor or chasis with it being strapped they cant not pay as it is classed as carrying your own goods, i just asked a neighbour who works for a main insurance company

woody you will find many insurance comapnies just ask DO YOU HAVE A WATER TANK IN THE BACK that is enough to increase premiums, once you say your a window cleaner most automatically ask this question.

from my experience stapped or bolted is no difference

I dont carry barrels so I really cant answer that one but the fact is ive got a 650ltr system, my insurance company gave me a quote for £350 fully comp when I said can you make sure this includes the tank, they double checked and the insurance company they used wouldnt touch me but another company would, my quote was £550 fully comp, now paying the extra £200 (tax deductable) was well worth the reassurnce  of knowing that if I caused a accident im covered and I know this way ill never hear the words "you never told us about the modification there for your not insured". At least I now know ill have a hire van, and payout if I have ANOTHER accident.

I do agree with you but you know all the insurance company's are ripping us off big time and if i was you get it in righting about the tank because i was insured for 11 months and when i come to renew my policy they asked me again what i did when i told them about the tank they come back to me and said my insurance did not know about the tank and i know i told them so just be careful.

My van has already been involved in a accident so I know its covered and it also shows on my renewal under modifications.

My Insurance Company (Gladiator) tells me that a modification is ANYTHING that the vehicle didn't have when it left the factory. That rules me out then.
