i always read with interest whenever theres a post about earnings with some lads saying their earning £200 per day on domestics etc, where i live your struggling to do much more than that in a week, theres a post running at the moment regarding daily rates for commercial and the prices being thrown about i could only dream of, am i charging enough or is there some sort of divide going on..i,m in yorkshire by the way...
-
north south divide is everything tho isnt it.
house prices etc .....
so if someone in say london earns £200 a day - he will prob have to pay a lot more for his living costs so surely it roughly balances out?

Some window cleaners here don't earn much more, but that is because they have been going too long and not put their prices up. They also don't believe that they are worth any more.

I'm from Barnsley also, working trad, part time at the moment possibly hoping to build it up to full time and leave my other job. I struggle to do more than 100 in a day working alone at the prices in this area. I want to raise them but when I look into what friends and family are paying i'm not sure I could. For example my mother lives in Shafton and is paying 4 quid for her semi which is. Fairly big with a small porch which has glass also.

I live in Birdwell but come from Shafton originally. My round is in Sheffield. But prices are the same. Have thought about going wfp but can't afford it at the moment, also concerned about whether it will make me much quicker with all the moving of the van hose reeling etc as i'm all domestic.

i just use a 200 gpd ro unit into a static tank , then pump it into my van . yeah with a back pack you just keep filling up from tubs of water .

Think I might start saving up and get a van mounted system eventually. Think it would give me more scope to do different jobs. Only been doing this a few months so still sussing everything out.

I'm in Killamarsh
-
sorry to hear that ;D
-
Thanks ;D ;D
-
ive got a round at killamarsh, ex council and council houses £3.50 - £4.00 3 bed semis. hard work!
-
im going down to london with one of my brothers and dad to stay at my other brothers apartment in a few weeks.the price of everything from rent to food, fuel etc,etc is staggering!!its so much more expensive to live down there.i live in the north west and its way cheaper.
seriously though if your only pulling in just over £200 a week whatever part of the country you live in you must be slow and very underpriced IMO.i dont know how you manage to make ends meet.i would of packed window cleaning in a long time ago if thats all i could earn in a week.
regards

i may av been exaggerating a little but i did say much above £200,i do work alone and am nearer 50 than 40 but,as said in previous post my council hs customers think their paying the earth at £4 a pop so i could never earn the sort of money most of you lads seem earn,i honestly thought it was an area thing,i may have to review my prices, thanks for your input. ps when you went to water fed did the custys take some convincing and is it a lot easier and quicker coz theres no doubt al be doing it until am 90 :'( lol
-
get a wfp van mount and up your prices mate, take no prisoners! your ment to be a business man! ;)
-
just go wfp if they moan, dump them,

Drive into the countryside and canvass bigger houses and charge more money!

the situation aint gonna change unless you change the situation!
3 words that inspire me the most from this forum is CCC
Canvass Clean Cull
Now get out there, canvass much better work and dump/ sell your rubbish.
There aint that much of a gap between north/ south, i know northern guys on here who charge roughly the same as me
Also get WFP ASAP, Its at least 50% quicker, if not more

like i said its hard work, but i can rattle 6-8 off an hour on my own so much better than tesco
-
Dont bother with wfp ive tried it and no way is it 50% faster than trad. Forget about all the i charge £25 for a 3 bed semi its XXXX. How long you been at it £200 a week is low
-
ask em to pay you in pigeons, ferrets and whippets . that way you can always feed the kids rabbit stew or pigeon pie , plus you can always clothe em in rabbit skins in the winter , theres a guy on here from burnley a lot of his custys pay him in black pudding , and he does ok ;)
-
Its true that your money is on the low side,it can be for all kinds of reasons, but don't believe all what you here, some can earn the sort of money being thrashed round this forum, and some lots more, but to do it day in day out,not many can do that.
Try and set yourself a target for the week, then the next week try to better it by say10% and continue doing a bit of canvassing when your finished in an area.

Was talking to one of my custies today, most ignore me, :-[ Anyway, her dad is over to visit from Fife. Chatting away, as you do, and his wife says they have a windy back home who charges 3.30 a monthly clean. That's for a 3 bed detached!!! She said that when they first had the windy, it was only 3 quid, but he put the price up last year!!
Full respect to the Jocks. They work in crap weather and must have hellish custies sometimes.

can take you to meet a mate of mine whos got a fully fitted system by a well known company .
-
Might take you up on that mate if i eventually take the plunge and go full time. At the minute my main job is fairly well paid so its not something i'll give up in a hurry. I reckon i'll earn less cleaning windows so it would be.more of a lifestyle choice if I ever do go full time. Thanks anyway though.

I did trad for 20 years then when I was 48 I bought a van mount wfp system and changed all my trad custards over to wfp. My point is that I would sooner be wfp at 50 than trad. Enuf said!!!!
