Title: WHICH RESIN VESSEL?
Post by: Richard Neal on July 16, 2011, 03:17:21 pm
Im in hard water Essex and my ro never seems to produce water lower than 4ppm, i would like to set up a resin vessel so when i transfer my water into the van tank it will pass through the vessel first to bring it down to 0ppm.

Any opinions as to which is the best vessel and resin to go for would be appreciated.

Thanks

Youd need to put the resin after ro then to static tank, then transfer from tank to vam, or have the resin in the van so it goes from tank through resin the hose and to pole.

We just got one of these and there like new.

I would not bother with resin if you are getting 4ppm out of the RO.
Im currently using 7ppm with no spotting issues  :o

Thanks for that  Gav,

I fill up my van from an IBC using a Submersible pump and a garden hose, what would be the drawback from connecting my transfer hose to a resin filter and then filling the van  tank? That way i will have 0ppm in the van tank job done! Or am i missing something?

think u wud eat resin tbh
i no a few ppl do this but i think its easirer
for me atleast running two pumps
via 25l di s to the reels  ;)
by the way my water after the merlin is like 009
25l of resin lasts me on each vessell
well over a year ;)

Thats interesting, does it keep it at 0ppm? does it affect the water pressure to the pole much when your pumping through a vessel first?

Richard if you have a static RO set-up already all you need to do is have a resin vessel after the RO so that your pure water is going straight into your IBC.
You will not need a vessel any bigger than 11ltr for this and resin should last around a year depending on how much you are producing.
The simplest way to go.

This is the best way. The DI resin in the vessel works better if the water permeates through it slowly so the resin has time to work. At 4ppm resin in a small Di will last a long time. I don't see the point of carrying 2 di vessels in the van when you don't have to.

You can clean windows with no problems at 4ppm.

Thanks for all your replies!

I have a 10" resin vessel after my ro but it only stays at 0ppm for a week or so and then its up to 2+ ppm, if i put a 25litre vessel on instead would it really last a year?

If this is right i would change over to one just for peace of mind!
