Can anyone remember Ionic`s selling squeegee rubbers a good
Few years ago now with 3 lines running across them.Craig Mawlem
First introduced me to them at the Blackpool `Fed`trade show.
The extra `bend`on them was awesome as I recall with no need for
`detailing`even without dog-earing or whatever else ya do to eliminate
`detailing`.
I hav`nt seen them around for awhile now and just wondered wether
Any members still use them.
They were the best squeegee rubbers I used by far taking everything
All round.
Thanks for replies assuming there will be any.

Hi Lewis
I remember them - as being awful.
I have been using a squeegee for about 25 years and I can honestly say without dog earing I have NEVER detailed and would NEVER allow my staff to do so.
I think if you use the squeegee correctly there is no need for detailing.

i can do most windows without detailing, you will need a video or pictures to explain
-
its just not possible to squeegee a window without at least a bit of detailing IMO.any of you guys that are not detailing must be leaving a little bit of water/soap around the edges!
if you want to clean a window properly then there has to be a quick wipe round the edges! ;D ;D ;D

I cannot imagine doing residential insides without detailing.
Outsides perhaps.

I could teach you as whenever I clean any inside windows including my own home I never detail.
Cost 250 pounds per man for a half day course. Minimum of 4 delegates per 1/2 day course.

Any possibility of running through your technique for us?
Probably not in your interest if you are holding courses.
I realise no detailing is possible, depending on soaping up method and squeegee skills and how you collect your water but I really do struggle to see how you can clean to a very high standard with absolutely no detailing. :) :)

i must never had say that 25 years of trad once i got into it i all most never detailed never had any probs
-
If you do not detail the window try looking at the inside of the window and you might change your mind !
-
we have a very old population and as such we do a lot of insides all good
-
Then again, careless detailing and with a cloth that is not dry enough can actually wreck your work.

To clean all of the window you have to run the applicator along the frame leaving running water all along the outside which will run especially along the top. If you do not run a microfibre or scrim around the frame then you will get runs.
-
I don't detail either except for a very occasional window where I mess up a bit. The exception, for me, is dirty first cleans. On a maintenance clean I avoid detailing by not soaping up to the very edges. If I were to do that on a dirty first clean, it could leave some dirt marks along the edges. I don't dog ear the squeegee channel either but I do make sure that the rubber is in good condition (corners not rounded) and that it is cut almost flush to the ends of the channel.
Sorry to get sucked into the bit that isn't about Ionics rubbers. No, I don't remember them.

I know how to clean windows after 20 years of trad and I virtually always detail unless at big commercial jobs. it's the best way to clean a window- it's slower of course.
