You are probably not doing anything wrong, but you have to understand that it won't just happen overnight, so you have to keep trying. June July and August are holiday months (silly season) so that could part of it. The economy is not allowing people to spend spend spend anymore, so that could be part of it.
Just keep slogging away and you will get there :)

Hi
Look for additional work that your existing customers could have. These include conservatory roof cleans, gutter and fascia cleans. You may also be able to get a few garage door add ons for a pound say. You may also offer internal cleans, every little bit helps when you are still growing your round and doesn't mean that you need to continue with this sector in a few years.

As you are doing your existing customers, ask them if they know of any of their friends locally that require an honest, reliable window cleaner. Canvass their neighbours a couple of doors each side and across the road, mentioning that you do so and so next door/across the road etc. As you are working don't be afraid to greet any neighbours working in the garden and offer your services after you have said a few niceties ie good weather, comment on their lovely garden etc.

I personally would offer 1 off cleans at a bit of a premium for those people who have dirty windows but don't have a window cleaner as they do it themselves. They may become regulars one day.

One good idea was to keep a house to house record of each street you have canvassed. If someone answers and says they have a cleaner, just say that fine, and ask them their cleaners name. Keep this for future reference, as if this guy gives up, you then have a list of people to canvass. It may happen or it may not happen. Go back to those who aren't in and cross them off the list once you have found them and spoken to them.

If you see a fellow window cleaner, stop and talk to him. If he's like most of us, we will always have 5 minutes to help. Ask them if they know of any local areas that you could canvass as you don't want to tread on any toes and upset anyone. I spoke to one once and was given half a dozen customers in another village that he was dropping as he didn't have enough work there. If you happen to come across a nasty git then bid him a good day and move on - don't let it affect you.

If you feel the area is 'saturated' with cleaners then you may have to canvass further afield, in near by villages and don't forget to canvass the farms/houses on route.

Keep going and keep canvassing!
Think about this....... You found £500 of work from nothing so there must be more out there!!!!!!!!!
Try offering your existing custys a free clean or half price clean if they get you friend, family member etc..........
Good luck!!!!!!!!  ;D ;D ;D

Being a window cleaner requires to to stick at it, thats all. If you deliver enough leaflets or knock on enough doors its absolutely impossible not to succeed.

Its a simple percentages game

did a 1st clean today and  knocked on the surrounding neighbours houses (which were filthy) only to be told "weve already got a window cleaner!!" ive even offered free front cleans to convince but no joy - 2 people have said they want trad cleaners - doesnt matter what you say  :(   what do you guys do in situations like these? whats the best approach when door knocking??
