Several of these boards have gone up outside some good customers, bit depressing
-
Don't give up on them they may not move from your area.. ;)
-
Vince.... if they are good custys, then they will let you know when new people move in. As Darren says, they might be staying in the same area, so could be having you at the next gaff and you get the new owner too.

The number of times I have picked up the new people when a customer moved out is so few that you could almost say never. The area has something to do with it, most new people are Asian and don't want a window cleaner. Also, most people when they move out are moving away. One of them is going to Devon, another to Eastbourne.
Very slowly it will kill the area from a window cleaning point of view. One of the best things actually will be the cap on housing benefits (rather suprisingly). In some places round here there are loads of houses rented out and nearly all to the unwashed.
Driving some of them out wouldn't be a bad thing. Putting some 4x4 and her asbo kids into a half a million pound house at taxpayers expense is crazy from lots of points of view.

i always push a little note through the door when i see the new people have moved in , saying i was the previous and give the price , leave it at that. this then often triggers them to try to do it themselves, make a mess of it ,then later phone me.
best to let them move in by at least a month before pushing the note through i find.
however i get what youre saying,if Asian youre probably onto a loser . however an Asian that has a house up for sale is a very good bet and they want the insides doing too . round my way houses are very slow selling ,so Asians can become long term, unwilling customers but pay okay

Asians very rarely sell their houses, they rent them out, usually to housing associations or councils and let the tax payer pay the mortgage for them.
This has been part of the problem, the councils and housing associations are prepared to pay way over the top, sometimes double the market rate. Its not their money why should they care?
This has encouraged others to do the same and brings the area right down over time.

whats an Asian down there Vince? im talking about the c****s and the Malayans . a wily bunch ,here they usually have a granny who is always tidying up - she speaks no english and wont answer the door .
have you any injuns customers? i have a few, surly ,who wont ever say hello or goodbye and the men of the family drive taxis that are usually covered in greasy fingermarks

Dont tell Tosh about this thread, he will call you racsist scum ;D
I on the other hand aggree with most of what your saying
-
I know from previous experience as Vince says that there are a lot of properties in London owned by Asians which are rented out.
And some of them are in an absolutely shocking state. I've personally seen properties in East London with dangerous electrics, severe damp problems, cockroach infestations the lot.
However there is still a rental market for these properties if they are cheap enough!!!
Glad I moved out.

This thread made me laugh, in a 1970`s sit com kind of way ;D.

You can laugh but gradually the whole nature of the area is changing. famously areas like Southall were 100% indian
but the ripple effect spreads out. Areas round here like South Harrow are virtually the same but it destroys the local economy. The window cleaners may be among the first casualties but there are others. They buy from their own shops and use their own tradesmen even their own doctors so everything else dies away.
You can't be a window cleaner in these areas.

I`m not disputing what you say, it`s the attitude to them and the stereotypes I read.
Even the racial insults made me laugh; in a Eddie Booth, Alf Garnett, Bill Reynolds (to keep it fair) sort of way.

Thats not racial insults its just observations. You size up your customers by your past experience. I have equally strong observations on why council estates were the best customers years ago but are now full of human garbage.
Don't go jumping to the conclusion that everything is racist, I like anybody if they pay me and dislike everybody if they don't. I'm not the slightest bit selective about it.

Ask your custy who is moving to eastbourne if they would like a new window cleaner as I'm based there..

There`s not just you posting on this thread, Vince.
Use of the word "c****" can be seen as racist. That`s just one example.
A lot of the observations were about a race of people, not individuals; a very broad race (if you can narrow it down to one), at that.
All the posters may be speaking from experience, but you can`t deny that there were gross generalisations used. Not just racial but also with council estates.

Doesn't sound like the local economy is "destroyed"; it sounds like it ends up in the hands of people you don't want to have it.
