CRF450 Nut, you could always downsize to a 250 to save on running costs!

Im the same, picked up 22 new customers in less than 2 weeks.
Just keep doorknocking and while you clean one house, look further on to see if theyre mucky aswell, then when youre finished ask them/leaflet minimum.
Also let on to everyone who walks by,say hello, its a lovely/miserable day etc, they will ALWAYS remember you being polite and well mannered.

We cover from north wales to lincoln and down to gloucester and back up to liverpool on a weekly basis and we are totally flat out with 5 guys and I wish there were more days in the week.

Still after more work though.

Dean.

Usually I'm ok I'm 4 days private one day commercial, but this last couple of weeks and up till august 12th or something like that I have loads of schools to do,had help for my private stuff and for my school work but it's all fell through, licence problems and unreliability have left me basically doing 6 days a week, was offering folk £100 a shift but nobody interested or didn't have proper area licence, just going to grin and bare it and think about the money but I will be exhausted after it all, after this I might take folk on perm and buy more work, plus might have a wee chance of landing my own contract elsewhere as my commercial stuff is subby but decent paying so I want to keep it up

To the OP,

Are you saying that work has gone quiet because you are losing customers? If it is, what reasons are people giving for dropping you?

If I started to lose customers, I would be looking for the reasons why. If it is because of poor quality/unreliability, I would take steps to rectify this. If it is due to a change of customers' personal circumstances, then all you can do other than to look for new customers.

Its all a good challenge though.

peaks and troughs in this business.sometimes its good, sometimes quieter than usual.im currently having a week break but im still getting the odd phone call for new jobs.no canvassing,no leafleting.i just rely on referrals and recommendation these days.

i do notice reduced cashflow and new work dries up a bit during august as a lot of people go away on holiday.

Maybe I am missing the point here, but if we are established, (I have been in the game for 14 years) how can there be quiet times, unless customers are disappearing in droves?

The workload rolls over from one cycle to the next, and, as I can never quite keep up, I can always say that there is work that is due to be done.

johnny i mean in relation to new work not existing work!rounds change all the time.i lose a few here and there due to moving, not liking the pole or losing their jobs, financial problems etc.

i just let work come to me as ive plenty of established work.

Hi, Dazmond.

Yes, I understand what you mean now!

I lost one customer last week due to their being made redundant. Since then, I have picked up 6 new customers, 3 of them last week by way of recommendation from existing customers, and 3 yesterday from being seen cleaning their neighbours', and a hint that more could come my way from yesterday's experience.

Apart from that, I agree that picking up new work has been noticeably slower this year, but as I have lost none apart from the above-mentioned, I have been kept busy doing my existing work, so it wasn't a problem.

Like yourself Daz, I have been in the game for a while now, so I also let the work come to me. Whilst never wanting to be complacent, it's a good position to be in don't you think?

Best wishes,
John.
