im seriously thinking of offering carpet cleaning with the bad winters we have experienced last two years now iv got over 500 customers i think its something we could push as we constantly talk too our customers when chasing payments etc using card machine n ringing up to leave gates open we usually get fascia jobs etc on n conservatories is the carpet cleaning a profitable sideline

I clean carpets as well as windows and i find im more busy in the spring than the winter this is my second year with the carpet cleaning its been a good add onto the business
-
Carpet cleaning works best in the hot months when you can leave the windows open to aid drying
-
We do; I usually find I'm stuck inside cleaning a carpet, sweating my nuts off when the weather's gorgeous and I wished I was outside cleaning windows ::).
But all in all it's a good add on; providing you sit a course first to learn your stuff :).

Its a big outlay on equipment, chems, training & advertising,... its not something you can do half-hearted.
It is a business that will grow in a recession though as people will clean instead of replacing. You'd have the benefit of pure water availability too,. it cleans carpets much better than tap water. ;D

richy john will train u up ;D ;D

I did a 3 day training course with Prochem and it opened my eyes to alot that van go wrong when cleaning carpets so now i pass them on to a good friend who passes me work :)

im looking more to just generally clean carpet not do all the spot stains etc

Richy, we clean carpets. We do alot of it and it's not really an add on mate. If you make mistakes, it gets expensive.
If you look at the topics on the carpet section, you will see how much you need to know. A decent machine will set you back a few K and that's for a portable. It's not like Trad or WFP. There is alot more to know. If it was so easy, any plonker could buy a Rug Doctor and a bottle of carpet destroyer like VANISH and earn money at it.
If you go into it, don't poke it with a stick mate, it's got no real room for trial and error. See if you can find a cleaner to take you with them and see how they work and how to save time , money and aggro.
I love it, but love upholstery cleaning even more. Good turn over and interesting work. If you can find enough work and learn what you need to know, sky is the limit.
Best spend some more time on the carpet section mate.

i only clean carpets when me cats puke on em ;D

Yes i understand all the pitfalls of carpet cleaning again that why i pass it on to my mate who only does carpet cleaning.I suppose its like window cleanin, people think its easy but it really takes a progessional to clean right :)
