Nothing back. Called again tonight windows open, lights on etc etc, still nothing
In my whole time window cleaning ive never had anyone blatently ignore me, what would you do, its only £20 at end of day but grating me >:(
-
start cleaning the windows then accidently on purpose spray water in the open windows. see how long it takes her to come out then ;) ;D
-
If you have her full name send her a final demand, threatening court action if she doesn't pay, usually does the trick.
-
just put dirt back on the windows.
-
Leave a note to tell her if you have to come back again an extra £5 will go on for time and petrol. Advise this is per visit so if she tells you to come at a certain time and she 'forgets' and goes out it will cost her more. Give option of cheque or BACS
This has worked like a charm for me twice in the last 2 months with 2 bad payers. Once they know you mean business most pay up. If you have a mobile for her do her regular text reminders also.

bit unprofessonal from me but after 5 times calling and you no for a fact she hiding from you id just dump personally,i had a terraced i took on paid first 2 times £5 a time cleaned it 3 times after and kept calling but wernt in,when i finally caught up with him he had no money and asked me to collect where he works (a carwash 4 miles away) thought yeh right couldnt be arsed with him anymore £15 gone (dumped forever) >:(
i do his mums and sisters so one day when they filthy they will ask me go do his again i suppose any grief off them and they will be dumped ;D
-
stick a dildo in her exhaust... always does the trick for me
-
i seen a good post on here a while a go about a bad payer ,they said they put a slither of bamboo in the yalelock, after countless visits and ignored.
criminal damage i no but job satisfaction none the less :)

I take what may be regarded as the unprofessional approach. I walk away and write it off. Furthermore, I hope that they never have the gall to ask why I stopped going to them, when their windows are minging and their neighbours' are gleaming!

I would go & see her neighbours & ask if it's normal for her to hide inside her house when she owes anyone money. ;)

Send a final reminder to her AND ALL HER NEIGHBOURS clearly showing her address so they all know she owes you money.

or a dozen eggs on upstairs non-reachable windows >:(

Very professional guys! Try this ... ;)
Leave a note like this:
Dear Mrs Custy,
Despite previous reminders and visits to collect from you the outstanding balance of £20 remains unpaid. As you will appreciate I cannot continue these visits without expense to myself.
Therefore, if payment is not received immediately I will assist you by letting each neighbour to the side of you know of the situation so that you can leave the money with them for me to collect. If I tell them you owe me £20 for cleans going back three months then they will understand when you hand the money to them for me.
I hope this is helpful.
Kind regards,
Innocent, Wideeyes and Watt

just soap her windows up at the end of long dirty day and forget to blade it off. wait for her complaint and explain....
-
Write her a "court" letter.
Then if she doesn't pay you, move on and forget about it. There are another million customers out there.

do NOT resort to any underhand tactics as will will look bad on you if anyone finds out.are you that desperate for £20?not worth it.although i would knock again when im back in the area cleaning the neighbours for example.
i remember all the ex customers who ve knock me over the years and exactly how much they owed me but i never get it back.must be a fair few hundred quid over the years.all businesses have bad debts that never get paid.its a bummer but in the great scheme of things its nothing like plumbers, builders etc which can get ripped off for thousands at a time.

True that it's comparatively small amounts. My brother in law is a haulage contractor and he's been really ripped off the in the past.
I just don't let my chasing for the cash actually cost me any money, I text (they are free anyway), e-mail or leave notes when I'm in the area. We've had 3 in the last 3 months totalling about £50 quid who clearly had no intention of paying but they all have paid up in the end because I said if they didn't pay I'd charge them for collecting. They just know you mean business! Got a £10 cheque come through yesterday. Just kept sending the same text every week for 3 weeks - worked like a charm! ;D
PS I always sign them off from the accounts department as well because they think they are dealing with a bigger business!

Dear
Reference/ Account number:
You generally pay your account promptly although lately I have noticed your payments, though regular, are consistently overdue. Is there any special reason for this? Extended credit is an overhead we both have to fight and of course prompt payment enables us to keep our costs down so that you benefit from competitive prices.
We are exercising our statutory right to claim interest and compensation for debt recovery costs under the late payment legislation, as we have not been paid according to the agreed credit terms.
Will you please send your payment for [amount] today to enable us to continue to provide you with the prompt service you rightly expect from us.
Yours sincerely,

Please note, for your information this may harm your credit rating if we have to use our legal department to reclaim missed payments. This will affect your future lending and borrowing.

Got 1 who owes £40 for 4 cleans.Same problem he hides when you try to collect money. Can see him in house he just wont answer door.Recently found out he owns car dealership will be paying hom a visit at his place of work in the very near future.see if i can embarrass him to pay up in front of his business partner/customers.If that dont work back to his house while he still in work and undo the work that ive done lol ;D .I for 1 dont suffer fools gladly.

On Friday I managed to catch a long term hider out, I went round in the afternoon and parked van round the corner, walked round and got him on his drive, he made excuses and said he would go to cash line, so I said no problems I understand I will wait as I have nothing else in the area to collect, he came back twenty minutes later with my 20 notes and I thanked him and left, on return to home I crossed him from my list, on Saturday morning I got a message on my phone cancelling my services. on Saturday afternoon I got a call from an ex customer asking why I haven't been in six months, I explained she owed so much, she apologised and said if she paid today would I carry on, I said yes and collected the money, she asked when I would be back, I replied never.
I can do without customers like these ;D I had already written the money off so getting paid was just a bonus
-
My rounds filling up nicely, already sorting the wheat from the chaff.Any hiders are know instantly taken off round.I can replace them a lot easier than they can replace me.Got no time for the cussie who thinks he/she can mugg me off.

Just forget it. £20. Is it worth all the hassle?
It happens rarely but if a customer obviously doesn't intend paying I walk away and forget them. Also, I will go to 2 cleans with out payment but no more than that.
Reading some of the replies written, some of you have serious anger issues.
It's like the postings about getting the customer to sign 'terms and conditions' before cleaning their windows which include terms of cancellation and late payment charges.
It's simple, worry about those who pay and give good service to them and forget the few who don't.
As for all that stuff on that form about reference/account number...... interest.... debt recovery costs.............. plus all the other rubbish.
You must be some type of idiot to go to all that time and trouble for 20 quid.
