Whats everyone's view on having self employed door to door salesmen ?
-
People hate door to door sales man with a passion mate.
Do your own postcard drops, 2 hours a day everyday and in 3 months time you will be flat out its as simple as that.
Target the same houses every 6 / 8 weeks.

Door to door is by far the best way of getting you business, I agree that people do not like door to door how ever a face at the door/ a smile and good rapore will get you custys. Can be dishearting when rejection seems to be the only answer ,then all of a sudden your invited in to quote and a few doors later another quote.
If you dont mind rejection, and you dont mind walking Go for it .

I'm Talking about other ppl chapping the doors?
do you think it would work
-
mark do you think dropping cards through ppls door 2hours per day would be that good ?
do you put prices on card ?
-
Jamie,
Unless your confident in the person selling your services and portraying your business as you would want then i would say no, unless you can get a salesman to work on a percentage basis of course, bearing in mind he most know all the ansers to the questions he will be asked , be able to quote for a job etc etc.
The best way ,get out and do it yourself :)
I went out with my brother the other week door knocking pushing my pressure cleaning side of the business on one of my quiter days, he could not push his self to knock so just fropped flyers, i spent 2 hrs and booked 2 jobs, £180 leading to another £150 for the rear of house when she saw differnce and a £260 job further down the road.

dont like wasting time on flers etc when my time could be used on better things... if people are doing the sales (commision based) then it makes my job easier... i am not worried about people starting there own cc company as we all know anyone can and theres no point in worring about other c/c

Yea prices on cards and do 2 hours a day religiousley, rain or shine.
it works for me.

they may hate the ones that are NOT very good at communicating but ppl who are good at this are liked or they would not make serious money, I can only assume youve never done it your self but can pass a small mind shallow comment on an industry you know very little about.
Got to take some balls to walk down the path and ice break on some 1 you never met and try to see if you have a product or service they could need or use.
thats right why dont you advise passive marketing !!
And HOPE they ring ???
sorry to be so mm mm twaty over this but if you CANT do it and dont know the industry dont slag it unless of course your talking from a position where you have lived the life as cana and well seasoned ??
nope didt think so ;D

I spent 2 years on the doors gas and elec a good salesperson will get you lots
of work but they will cost you lots of money 12k basic +comm+travel if you want
somebody experienced commision only you will be lucky if they last a week.
good salesperson will get you average 3 jobs per day looking for £100 comm per day £700 per week
average salesperson will get you 1 job per day looking for £30 comm per day 350 per week
your average job price will need to be imo over £200.

pmsl
very structured come back there. ;)
-
but if you offer 30% commision on all sales there is a good bit in it for them

I have a lady who delivers leaflets in her local area. I tell her to strike up conversations with people doing their garden walking the dog and never mention what she's pushing through the letter box. They then invariably ask and if they are vaguely interested get their number for which she gets £5 whether I get a job or not. Everyone's happy. :)

If you want advice on canvassing then have a look on the window cleaning section, a lot of building window cleaning rounds is door knocking because it is vital that they are compact. The first 50 houses you knock on is scary/weird but then its easy...you just go into overdrive and dont even have to think about it.

I hate with a passion people knocking on my door selling stuff, so I wouldn't do it to others.
But that's just my personal view which might not be in keeping with many others.
A leaflet drop one day backed up with a door knock a day or two later is different though.

Any joy on that job?

Any joy on that job?

Spot on. we do that to get windy custies. Leaflet drop then follow up in 3 or 4 days. The leaflet helps you break the ice, "Hello, my name is.......... did you get our flayer about carpet cleaning?" Doesn't matter what they answer, even if they say "No, we didn't get one" you can say "Doesn't matter, do you need carpets cleaned blah blah" CC work comes from website and flyers and Facebook too.

Door to Door approach is good option only for energetic people having impressive communication skills.
-
I think its a massive gap and don't get why cc business's aren't going down that route
