Post by: aztec on June 29, 2011, 06:08:36 pm

wd40 , think i once read a topic where it said to twist with rubber gloves on 1 turning clockwise and 1 turning anti clockwise .

I think the advice is to heat the join up with a heat gun for a few mins and then twist apart. it's the stop tape underneath that has rolled up and is acting like glue. Happened to me but I managed to pull apart on my own, but then I am a hell of a man  ;)

Two people with rubber gloves & both turning clockwise (as they are facing each other of course). Twist & pull.

Best advice I could give you for the future is every now & then just lower the pole & release the top 2 or 3 sections 1 or 2mm, this prevents them jamming under compression.

I've read here somewhere that WD40 and carbon fibre aren't a good mix; it loosens the carbon fibres or something.

Be careful about doing this before speaking to someone who knows, like Alex, before doing it.
