Mate-you wont regret it. I use an SLX30 as an every day pole as I do a lot of town houses

Makes life so much easier and saves your back n shoulders.

You'll be well chuffed

I've used the slx since they came out and have now moved onto the xtreme slx. They are far better than all the other poles by a long way.

After three months mine's playing up.  It started sticking; something to do with the stopper I think; and now the stopper's come out and the top section of pole can slide right out.

I wonder what it's going to be like in another three months.

And the thing is, I really look after this pole carefully; external pole hose = no grit up the middle of the pole, and it's regularly wiped down and sprayed with that spray whose name I can't remember right now; the one Gardiner recommends.

It's only a turn of tape Tosh, dead easy to fix.

Electricians tape?  How far up from the bottom of the pole?  And how many turns, just the one?

Thanks, mate.

Sounds like the joint stop tape is sticking for some reason, perhaps it has become damaged or has got caught up. To sort this out please follow the instructions below:

1. Open up clamp lever and remove lever arm assembly from the appropriate clamp.
2. Prise open the clamp jaws and pull the sticking section out completely.
3. Remove the damaged joint stop tape and clean and dry the base of the section.
4. Re-apply the joint stop tape. To do this use good quality electrical insulation tape and wrap about one and a quarter wraps of it around the section at the correct place.
5. Prise open the clamp jaws and very carefully insert the pole section.
6. Re-assemble lever and tighten back up.

This should sort the problem out. If upon opening the section up it is not the joint stop tape causing the issue, it will probably be dirt jammed between the sections, which can be cleaned out before re-assembling.

That was a quote from Alex a few weeks ago  ;)

3. Remove the damaged joint stop tape and clean and dry the base of the section.

On this stage, some property of slightly worn carbon fibre is that it'll look dry in seconds.  For all I know it might be, but it seems suspiciously quick so I leave it a while before putting on the tape.

This is still what put me off Gardiner poles. If you guys were looking to replace a 35ft Ionics e2 pole with a 45ft pole what would you buy? Because this pole is bloody heavy.

35 ft pole i have is great for commercial work, but im using it more and more for work for some sky lights and a load of flats, i change the goose neck for the swap top so i can use a standard double trim brush rather than the 18 in brush. Its to heavy for that type of work.
