Title: Large commercial enterance mats
Post by: coyote7 on June 20, 2011, 05:59:19 pm
Hi Guys,

Going to look at some commercial enterance mats tomorrow which are rubber backed and the front is hard nylon from what I have been told. These mats are 2.5 x 2.0m can you give your advise on cleaning methods please as these are not something I have done before ???

Think I read a post on here some time ago about something similiar and peolpe choose jet washing as the method does this sound right or am I off the mark ::)

By the way the mats are only a year old and good quality I am told they cost £700.00 each so want to make sure I have as much knowledge to go and do the job in the safest way possible.

Rich ;D

Nuke em,
Vac em to death, rake then vac again.
Then High PH, Champion or Upac would be my choice leave 20 and rinse, these things are bullet proof

Vacuum them to death as already said.

Front and back to beat out all the grit.

my personal way would be to take them outside and prespray, good mechanical scrub then either glided wand rinse or jetwash with hotwater @ around 700-800psi.

Thanks for your replies guys now what about price ::) would you normally charge your usual hourly rate or price it different being a commercial job I went to see them today and they are in a 'OK' condition If I charge my usual rate for how long it would take then it would be to low but then again if I go to high they perhaps wont feel like they are getting good value for money I can do the mats on site which is in full view of their offices :o Could take them away to do at home but not really worth the travelling and don't want to hike up the price just so that they don't get to see how long the job will take, catch 22 I guess.

Best way to sort ot entrance mats? Just throw em in the bin :)

Or if you taking them off site, jet wash them after a good vac.

Well she wants one doing to start with and just some spot removal on another. However there are more in the building so could lead to more work bearing in mind they cost £700.00 each ( Which seems very excessive for a mat of this sort with the company logo on ) Company is based roughly 10 miles away on a stretch of road that is always busy so don't really want to get involved in take aways. Here lies the problem if I do them on site in full view of the offices I think job would take perhaps an hour and a half and that would be stretching it. Of course I want it to be worth my while but then don't want to be deemed as charging the earth think my conscience always plays a huge part ;D

Have done plenty of barrier mats like this before and agree with previous comments, vac 'em, beat 'em,  then jetwash, always seems to work a treat, and yes, if you can get away with it, I would take them off site, no point in giving away your secrets ! hehe

Personnally I'd take them to a pro cleaning company where they get washed professionaly and add on some cash to the price for your time n transport.
Once youv'e spent time n effort vacumning then jet washing then drying (pain in ass in winter when they are filthy) you will have put in lots of time n effort.
I'd arrange for a cleaning company to do every week or month or whatever, ( they should pick up and drop off too)
Have them bill you, then add some on top and bill the client! simple, profit without all the hassle.
Goochie.

We also do lots of these.
Why go for the nuclear option of jetwash. Totally over the top IMHP.
They are only the equivalent of low profile after all.
We vac them to death with a pile lifter then brush in M power/Nemesis, leave for a while then bonnet with Solutions HD.
They come up great every time and no massive drying times/taking off site etc.
If you need to spin it out to justify a higher charge you can always brush the M power in by hand.
Simple.

We did our local Indian the other week, just finished and guess what 'oh mister can you just errrrr do these rugs' allright go on then. 1 of them was from outside the kitchen door.

Vacced them, sprayed UR on them and scrubbed it in, they were washing the back alley (?) down with a hose so they hosed them down with cold water while I scrubbed it with a my carpet pilater. They were a deep piled nylon kind.

Well you should have seen the difference, they were a light beige colour underneath. I stared at them, they stared at me, we couldnt believe the difference!

I now have a 3 month contract to go and spray buff the whole place as a maintenance job, and a freebie meal aswell.

That UR is brilliant stuff.
