Title: Undercutting or being cheap Doesn't Pay

We have a Cleaning firm in my home town heavily leafleting for some time now. What they are doing is dropping a beautifully printed leaflet through your door with lots of pictures of window cleaners cleaning Offices, house, Factories but none of them are actually them working. In the leaflet it gives you a price of what they will charge and its a rock bottom price. A customer of mine who i charge £15.00 for a clean they will do it for £7.50 :o Another customer i charge £20.00 they will do it for £10.00, lost neither of them however i picked two new customers this week who had them and they never went back. One i charge £15.00 a one £ 10.00. they charged £10.00 and £4.50. They clearly never went back because they under charged. If you under cut or your cheap as chips your just build a prison for yourself with lots of under priced work that you can't cope with.

Exactly so.

In my experience, you have very little to fear from undercutters. You may lose the odd customer, but in my view they are ones who would be looking for the first excuse to drop you anyway.

Customers are in the main very loyal, so if you are doing a job they are happy with, and they like you as a person, you won't have any problems, even if you charge more than the 'competition'.

My aim is to do an excellent job for a fair and realistic price, and take a little time to get to build a good relationship with customers. By doing this, I have found that, no matter what 'competition' may emerge, my customers remain loyal to me.
