Title: SEBO BS36 - Cutting out ?
Post by: CarPete Cleaning on June 16, 2011, 06:54:44 pm
My SEBO vac has justed started playing up a bit - it cuts out from time to time.  I had it bits and gave it a good clean - brushes look fine, mains cable connection looks fine - anyone got any ideas of what else it may be or that I should check?
thanks,
Pete ::)

bag full light/trigger etc... springs to mind, or is that too obvious.

It might sound silly but have you checked the cable ?

does both the vac & brush motor cut out? or just one?

if both then is a power supply problem, check the lead & plug

Pete, try taking the back off. Just above the bag there are three scews.

Undo the screws and check inside for any loose connections.

I had a problem similar to the one you describe and found a loose connection to be the problem.

Regards

Jim

Had a similar problem with my Sebo a few weeks ago, would only work with the mains lead held in a certain position, let go and it would cut out, spent over an hour taking it apart to try and sort it but it was time wasted, ended up taking it to my local electrical supplier/repairer and it cost £25, less than my hourly rate.  ;D

 probably got a broken wire inside the cable. happened to me with the rx, found the break and cut it out and reconnected, that was a temp measure so we could finish the job, bought a new cable asap.

Thanks Guys for all the tips & advice - I will check the vac out later today and see if I can identify the cause again.

I had the same problem with the head brush cutting out. There is a microswitch in the head that was faulty. I had thought that it was the contacts which I had stripped down and cleaned. Eventually went to my local vac repair centre and a new one fitted and a complete clean over inside and out for £29.00 which I thought was a great deal.
