i know what you mean mate!

its a bloody juggling act!

i always try and get the right staff doing the right jobs - some are better at certain things than others etc ...

then its contacting the jobs etc ... then its checking the weather all the time etc ...

sometimes i think i should just sell off the work that staff do and just do it on me own and have a easy life.

we had gate probs etc but after a while it seems to have sorted its self out - we offer text alerts etc to ...

thats the problem with texting not worth it, its an excuse for them not to leave gate open and not get a clean.. jus get on with it and clean it if gate open or not

u must not text or call customers before clean

just explain you simply turn up at the agreed frequency every say 8 weeks if customer has a locked gate explain it will be the front if you are out

if customer is picky and always wants back give her a window for example we will be in your area from around 12th june next time aug 6 please unlock your gate on these days cover your self by saying from 12th to 15th give her a window to keep her gate unlocked

if she is not happy with this always want back always wants a time and date for each visit or a phone call or text me personal would say

"sorry we can not offer our round services in such a way"
"is it a notification clean you are looking for or a one of clean?" if so price accordingly

I think your wrong mate, with diesel prices its a wasted trip to a house with a locked gate. Phone Text works very well for me and the customers love it.

But a lot of the big houses have a gate at the front of the drive.  plus the majority of windows conservatory etc are at back.  waste of time if your payin 3/4/5 quid to drive there and only earning 5-10 quid doin the front.  Plus you can get paid that day, rather than having to go back and collect.
always text if you need to.  if it gives them an opportunity to say no dont want them cleaning then thats fine.
to try and sneak in so theyre not given the chance to say no seems pretty stupid.  not really good for the long term to be doing jobs the customer doesnt want you doin

alot of hoses have a fair amount of glass at the front that get dirty faster then the back, these are the easiest to manage, and worth decent money.

im just trying to help ritch ,if he has a full round of customers he needs to call
he will have problems no matter what anyone says :)

from what i gather he wants stability whats the point of one day in the month make £350 like he says then the next time they are due £158.50 cos they say sorry not this time or just forget to open gates, his staff end up driving to the next days work half a day early lost time in travel all of a sudden his round becomes unstable.

this is why you just turn up take a paycut on the property if they are out at least you know what you will be making by the minium front value price.

you just need to be alittle more selective on propertys ,houses with one up one down ofc wont work

it all depends how you wana run your round don't get me wrong i have a few i text it does work too but i don't really like , many people will agree with me.

i never phone or text any of them. get good at scaling the gate is the answer. quite a few of mine dont open/unlock the gate Even if they are at home . they only come to the door to pay at the end

if you have a decent compact round the odd locked gate is not a problem , as you are driving there to do a full days work texting the night before is strictly for the desperados and the 1 house in every street brigade

HAVING A NIGHTMARE AT MOMENT GETTING WORK DONE WE OFFER TEXT ALERT AND PHONE PEOPLE N WE GO ROUND N PEOPLE JUST ARENT LEAVING GATES ETC OPEN OR TELLING US THERE AWAY, HOW DO MOST PEOPLE SCHEDULE THERE WORK COZ AT MN WE JUST PRINT OFF WORK AREA N GO AT WHAT WE CAN IM GETTING BIGGER NOW AND ITS NOT REALLY WORKING NEED SOMETHING MORE STRUCTURED AND ORGANISED SO I HAVE WEEKLY PLAN SO LADS CAN HIT TARGET OF 3-350QUID A DAY

I severely restrict the amount of work I do where I have to pre-arrange access.  I do say to them that if I need access and it isn't available on a particular occasion, I will supply a front only service for that clean.  If they refuse that offer and end up not leaving access, that's the end of the service.  This is becaUSE i'M NOT PREPARED TO GO TO SOMEONE'S HOUSE ON THE OIFFCHANCE THAT THEY ARE AT HOME.  yOU CAN'T run a business like that.
Maybe it's time to start replacing the ones that fail to leave access more frequently than most?

Of course another way might be to introduce a new condition.  Namewly that yoiu will clean all the windows that you can get to but the full price will be charged.  That tends to help the memory a bit.

Same here, i think texting or anything like that gives them the easier option to say not today thanks.. your also set to the day then if emergency crops up or something and you don't turn up and people leave gates unlocked that usually want them locked don't rly look good.

I schedule in what i think i can do for the day. I ring or text. If there is no access then i do fronts only and charge  two thirds the price generally and leave a note to say sorry i couldn't do your backs it was locked. You've done your bit of the bargain by notifying them. Most i find are apologetic. Initially i was sceptical of the ringing or texting before hand incase i got the 'leave it this time' brigade, but you're better off finding them out quickly and either explaining to them how you operate a regular service or leave them out permanently and move on.
I notice some guys advocating not to ring or text, thats fine if they want a window cleaning round ,if you wanna run a business you gotta move with the times !!!

We have a 8 weekly scheduled service...after each clean the customer gets a card and along with the 'normal' info the customer gets their next clean date.

Now as we take on customers they get our terms and conditions and amongst the normal blurb it states we need 72 hours notice of a change or request to skip also if we turn up and no access is available as agreed...customer is billed for the whole price.

Late payments...are a service we offer...if the customer chooses to pay over the agreed 14 days then after a warning letter/email/phone call we will on the next occasion charge the customer 5 euro's for each and every payment request...

Some say t&c's have no place...I strongly disagree...they make clear what is and what is not offered.

No real reason to go back and collect...get customer to pay online.

Cheers
Dave.
