Bobby , how are they too low ?
Thats where the ladder should go surely , unless of course you have one of them new hovering stand off gadgets from the guy who does the wheelie bin systems ;D

Oh no they are not, it not the way that I would do it but a lot do.

Totally correct IMO.
How any trad window cleaner uses a ladder without mitts is beyond me.
Using them not only means that you can clean without marking the customers' properties, it also drastically reduces the risk of sideways slipping.
A side effect of this is that you can rest the ladder on the sills thus gaining height. Beware if sills are frozen though as it can't stop all the slipping.

if you are a windie who puts ladders below the sill, you would place it on the wall as high as poss, otherwise you wont reach /the marks look too low in the photo unless it was a novice windie
i personally always place ladder on the sill, with a protector to stop marking (pipe insulation) then i am away from the glass and can climb far higher to reach
having said that i did see a windie with his below a sill, but thats a VERY UNUSUAL sight

the windy might just use one section of his ladder if its a long one.i knew a guy who did this on run of the mill council houses.if your tall you will be able to clean most windows with the ladder placed there.you might have to hold on to an open small window to get on that extra rung to reach the corners but its doable! ;) ;D ;D
thank God for WFP though! ;D ;D ;D
