Hi. Did my first conservatory roof today (Mine ;D)
Anyway, I really really struggled to clean the finials (i think thats what they are called) on top of the conservatory
I am using a WFP
Any advice how to get them clean.

Spray them with TFR, allow to soak for 5 mins, then brush.

where would i get this TFR from i am in manchester and do you have to dilute it cheers

The long fancy bits on the ridge are called crestings, ridge capping or ridge decoration. The pointy bits at the end are called finials.

Try this technique:
* Stand well back from the job.
* Rest your pole on the edge of the roof so the brush is just touching the ridge capping. Then you can gently rotate the brush CW and ACW and wriggle it left and right and up and down to get into the recesses.
* Don't push too hard, rely on the bristles to do the work, NOT brute force.
The dodgy bit is cleaning the finial as this can just pop off when you're cleaning the back of it. And getting it back on is a BITCH.
If you can't get tfr, I've used Flash. It stinks of lemons, but does the job.

This should do. :)

Done my 1st full conny today too,for a letting agency. Hopefully can get plenty more work out of them! The final rinse was a p.i.t.a on mine too,as the angle on the roof was so shallow that the water barely runs off,so all the bits of moss and debris wouldnt rinse off. Ended up using a long harris pole and squegee to get the bits off.

This is why we use conservatory ladders...no messing around (usually) and the final finish is allways better. ;)

Someone posted a great idea on how to get the finials back on again but I have tried it yet.
Get a long plastic tube from your local DIY store or plumbers. feed a piece of rope or string through it so it comes out the other end. Feed it back through again so you have a hoop at one end of the tube and two ends of rope coming out the other end. Then put the finial through the hoop and pull the strings tight and then simply put the finial back on roof.

A low powered pressure washer with extensions to reach does a great job! Just blasts out all the difficult to clean areas! I use a waterfed pole for the rest of the conservatory. This simple system works a treat for me!
