Title: Wood sap
Post by: Andy Hogarth on June 08, 2011, 10:44:28 pm
Wood sap from beams in a conservatory have dropped onto a potential customers upholstery (cotton from habitat) and gone solid. Going to look at it tomorrow

They have tried to 'pick' it off but it's too hard.

I'm thinking some heat to loosen it up or possibly a solvent but would appreciate some advise if anyone has experience.

cheeeeers ;D

Just been to take a look at this today, it is proper rock hard, booked her in for next week as she wants the upholstery cleaned even if the sap won't shifty.

Would like to take it off though if poss.
After seeing it I'm more inclined to go down the solvents route but I'm not sure it will break it down!

Any ideas..... Any one..... Any one :)

Its like a very hard wax. Try and melt it into kitchen roll with a WARM iron. Be very carefull.

Might be worth just gently picking the hard bit off then using solvent.

Cheers John, I did try and give it a pick but it seemed to hard to even chip off, know where you're coming from though.

Do you recon steam would help loosen it
