Is size everything (i hope not) What makes a successful company in your opinion ?
Do you look up to the company with 4 vans a day 300 odd days a year ?
or is the man and van that has a small amount of quality high paying custys , working short 4 day weeks ?
Who are the big business windys ,the Major players that have built and continue to run the best window cleaning companies we know ?

'Success' is subjective. What I may call 'success' may not mean that to someone else.
In any 'success model', I would include 'how happy and peaceful are you with what you do to pay the bills?'. If you scored well on that score, I'd rate you as successful.
For others it could be number of vans on the road, or turnover, or profit margin.
Based on my own criteria, I'll give myself a five-out-of-ten. But next week, if I'm feeling different, I'll give myself an eight-out-of-ten; maybe?

the thing with a lot of wc is they become wc as they think it is easy money, start building a business then think they are alan sugar, becasue they own a cleaning company, i might be mark 4 escort with ladders on top but they own a cleaning company, as long as you make enough for you to enjoy life that is all that matter,
i knew a few who have 3+ vans and to be honest, 1 cant run a business to save his life and keeps going through staff, telling me he ows 12 k to bank, plus vans on finance and hasnt paid him self since march as got no money
then there is the wc who does my estate, earns £100 a day then goes home, to relax

i dont think there is any national company that can cover the whole of britain with out subbing out, a lot pretend they can but cant

Doesnt matter if your one of the big businesses or sole trader by yourself if you got enough customers that pay you whether its commercial or domestic, we are all successful in our own right. ;D ;D ;D

funny you say that today i saw one of there lads cleaning a bank i wasnt sure if it was his round or a large company,
he was doing a bloody great job it was trad, i wonder how much they charged for it.

Mitie may well be one of the biggies when it comes to size but on quality and customer satisfaction they're lousy.
They have the coop contracts, providing ALL cleaning requirements including the window cleaners, who are supposed to turn up every fortnight. The ammount of times the manageress has asked us to clean the windows for her because she was sick of trying to see through crap is anyones' guess.
It would appear that some treat their customers well to become big but once they've reached the summit the customer can take a run and jump :-\

How yo you define success?
Is it whoever has the biggest turnover, biggest profit margin, most customers, most employees, most vans, most expensive equipment etc?
Or is it the one man band who happy to go to work every day and is content with what he has?
If it is the former, I don't know who is the most successful. If it is the latter, I could be a contender!
