Anyone here belong to them. Is it worth it? How much are subscriptions? They contacted me the other day. I'd say they are more well known then NCCA. From what I can gather, they contact previous customers and ask them to fill out a questionaire. Sounds good to me because thats more thorough than getting in the NCCA.

got my sample pack through the post today.
i'll send it you if i can dig it out the bin. ;D
ps... might have a bit of last nights chicken tikka jalfrezi on it though. ;D

They've been a joke for donkeys. All you do is pay them a bit of money and hey presto you are a member of their 'guild of master craftsmen'. No exams, no nothing. I think they appeal to the jack of all trades though.
Even members of the public laugh at it.

I'm not running the NCCA down but as I say and I may be wrong but.......the general public are more likely to be impressed with a cleaner being a member of the Guild Of Master Craftsmen than the NCCA and more likely recognise the guild/emblem ?

How much is it, think your paying to use the nice shiny logo
-
Anyone here belong to them. Many moons ago but only for 1 year
Is it worth it? No
How much are subscriptions? can't remember but probably around the £200 area
I'd say they are more well known then NCCA. More than likely
From what I can gather, they contact previous customers and ask them to fill out a questionaire. Well you do have to submit a few names of previous customers so they can verify you
Sounds good to me because thats more thorough than getting in the NCCA. Well that's not hard is it
You do get a nice folder, certificate and vehicle logos though but don't expect any work from it
-
From when I was in the NCCA I'd say that was joke. No hands on actual training and an exam you did when you got home and then send it in. Now that means anyone could join. Now that is a joke.

sounds like your gonna go for it no matter what we say so good luck chris, hope it works for ya.
-
Well probably not lol Was just interested in anyones thoughts on it.

Would you use a cleaner because they had a badge on that said they were a "Master Craftsman" or would you use a cleaner because they came recommended?
A Goldsmith may be a "Master craftsman", as may be a cabinet maker or a stone mason............ a carpet cleaner is not a master craftsman, no matter how good they thing they are!
Craftsman - A person who is skilled in a particular craft or art
Craft - An activity involving skill in making things by hand
No, I don't belong, got no intention of belonging and am not qualified to belong!
-
I agree. I left the NCCA because I didnt notice it brought ay more work in. Sounds like we're getting back into that old chestnut...."are carpets cleaners doing a skilled job" lol. All I got to say is......can you learn to plaster, be an electrician, be a plumber etc etc etc with 1 hours training........you can with carpet cleaning lol

Craft - An activity involving skill in making things by hand
Confucius say I make carpets clean by using my hand tools.
Does that count

If you want to join a trade organisation then look at the benifits what
do you get for your money if there is nothing in it for you then whats the
point they wont get you work but can give you credabillity if you need it.
Imo the FSB is worth the money the ncca should be open to everybody who
can pass the exam regardless of where they done there training.
Is carpet and upholstery cleaning a skill then I would say yes and I am
still serving my apprenticeship if you think Derek Bolton or Paul Pierce are
not skilled you may as well go and work for enterprise or another cowboy
outfit.
Oh and I am a skilled craftsman and dont need a badge to prove it never been
asked for papers in my life when you started a new job you got punted by dinner
if you were no good.

Chris,
Ive done alot of courses and passed exams in many different things from school to now, ive had the opportunity and have joined a handfull of associations, am I an expert in all of the things I have learnt and done? the simple answer is NO
Would the guild of master craftsmen back you up if you had a problem with a job/customer? do they check if you have the correct insurance in place? could you call someone to ask for advice? not knocking them but they have nothing to do with cleaning services. Solicitors, Doctors, Dentists, Police officers, pilots, gas fitters, accountants etc etc etc all require some degree of training and passing exams to become one.
Are they all perfect and do everything by the book? are some good and some bad at what they do? do some make mistakes and cut corners?
Do you think you should be able to join an association for free? iso, bics, cssa etc etc they will all charge you for joining, if everyone had to be perfect to remain as a member their would be no members, if it was free how would they exist?
If their was ever the demand, which in my honest opinion I dont think it would ever happen, do you want universitys to start doing a course on carpet cleaning? come on get real, even if they did and people passed it, do you think they would be perfect and know everything about it and not make any mistakes ??? masters degree in cc, sorry but its never going to happen.
The joke is on you now get real and wake up!
Regards,
Paul

The Guild promote themselves by saying the companies that are members are established businesses that must have been trading for minimum of 2years.
They offered us membership in November 2008 knowing full well we only started trading in October 2008.
They were slightly peeved when we told them we didnt agree with their ethics and misleading information they were sending out to members of the public.
They were willing to relax the entry requirements for us..... WHY??????
Cos they are full of CRAP!

When I was in Direct Sales I went for an interview with one of these badge companies
they arrange discounts for you
Some of which you can get anyway . Legal is usually on Your insurance Policy
They are not a Campaigning Organisation
They hold no meeting
They give no Trade Advise
But you can con the Public by using their badge
If you want a Badge I will legally form an association give you a Certificate and Charge you £25 per year plus postage No Telephone Surpport etc
