Has anyone here tried / or been asked to calculate their carbon footprint?
Would be interested in any comments anyone has.

No, and to be honest couldn't give a flying $%£"
Until countries the size of America, Russia, Brazil and China etc do something then you, I and the rest of GB are going to have zero impact on the grand scale of things.
Just seeing the title and I knew someone was going to throw in Try Ultrapac ;D

My sentiments exactly. I know the size of my carbon footprint..... Size 8, but I never leave one because I wear over-shoes... ;D

drove past aldi at 11 oclock last night and it was lit up like a xmas tree as usual. same as most big shops, always leave there lights on. so why should i be bothered when the big boys talk the talk but can't be assed to walk it.

We get it all over derek with the lights and that gets me too.
Even in our gym the lights are on full all the time and to me they arnt needed..

There use to be a website where you could input your own details it was posted on one of the other well known cleaning forums.

Didn’t need to do mine was told by the TFL get van of the road by jan 2012 or £100quid a day fine, as true English man I complied it’s now on boat to Ghana arrives ON 27TH

Er, no.
Apparently the UK is the world leader in developing all things 'carbon footprint' and we all have to pay for it ???
Like already has been said, until the other countries take it seriously I dont see why I should develop ways of being more eco/carbon footprint friendly. But no doubt us small businesses will be caned even more in the future though >:(

Biggest load of cobblers-just more marketing spin by some companies IMHO.
Now if we could just stop the de-forrestation of the Amazon basin and other such areas we really wouldn't have to be worrying about this in the first place.

Too right Roger!
They tried to stop deforrestation in the 70s and 80s but when they hit resistance from governments literally taking away their economy and also our supply of all things cheap then they spun the other way.

They've just passed new laws in Brazil allowing farmers and landowners to chop down even greater areas of forest.

A friend of mine was into this plant a tree to compensate etc. For his Wedding we gave him 3 trees in South America I think
Thats fine and then in The Car Park near my House Council or someone just chops down a tree for no apparent reason.
Also with recycling which I approve off providing its done in UK and not sent to some Pacific Island for sorting, but has anyone thought about the diesels used by separate lorries to collect the recycled material and then the diesel to take it in 30 different directions before it reaches recycling plant

The resoirvoirs my be low but that doesn't mean the underground aquifies are!
Underground aquifers represent nearly 96% of the planet’s freshwater, i.e. a volume 100 times higher than that of surface freshwater. In arid or semi-arid regions, they are often one of the few sources of water supply, if not the only source (100% in Saudi Arabia and in Malta, 95% in Tunisia). The UNESCO International Hydrological Programme (IHP) published the first detailed map of transboundary aquifers in 2008. In 2010, more than 270 have been identified all over the world, of which 73 are on the American continent, 38 in Africa, 65 in Eastern Europe, 90 in Western Europe and 12 in Asia.
