Title: fan jets fitting?
Post by: windiewasher on June 06, 2011, 10:02:28 am
How easy are they to fit to your brush? Also, looked on gardiners site theres,a 40 or a 60 degree.which is best?
Might order another extreme brush and fit fan jets in it.

I prefer the 40 degree as you can control where they go better.

Gardiners will fit them for a small fee .... saves messing about yourself and risking the chance of cocking it up for a few quid

i have also been thinking about getting fan jets but didn't want to spend out for a new brush without knowing that i can get on with using them, so im thinking about fitting the jets to my super lite dt bush aswell as keeping the pencils on in case i don't like the jets is this a good idea and which ones should i get 40 or 60 ??

Cleaning spot do an "economy fan jet" which is a direct replacement for the standard pencil jets. They're quite cheap (£2.39 ea) and do the job absolutely fine.

I took the pencils out of my Vikan oval and fitted them. I use it on my shortie pole and get perfect results.

Evidently, I prefer fans to pencils. But when all is said and done it's down to no more than personal preference. Those who use pencils out of preference have developed their own technique and get great results. And likewise for those who use fans.

Go to:

and put the code fjv in the search box and you'll go straight to them.

Some people make a brush that has both fitted, though I personally can't see the point.

The original question was: How easy are they to fit to your brush? I tried to answer that.

I don't know the brush you refer to. Does it have brass push-fit jets? If it does, you can simply pull out the pencils and push in the fans. That way you can achieve what you want to achieve. The whole point is that they are a straight swap.

So how easy are they to fit? VERY EASY.

Otherwise you need to drill larger holes to fit the usual fan jets.

If you don't mind drilling holes in your brush, that's fine. But you do need a decent drill and a vice to make sure the holes go parallel. If they don't, you'll make a mess of the job and the water won't do what you want it to do.

So how easy are they to fit?

If you have a decent workshop and skills --- EASY

If you don't have a decent workshop and skills --- QUITE DIFFICULT
