Post by: cleantech on June 03, 2011, 11:57:49 am
Some advice is needed and would be greatly appreciated.  ???  With the help of the duct work installer i am about to clean 3 grease canopys fans and ductwork. I have the HVCA TR19 guide to good practice so have the theory side of things. What i dont know is what chemical should i use for the canopy, fans and ducting? what polish is best for the canopy area after cleaning what is best to scrape the ducting of required. do i use the same degreaser for the canopy as the ductwork ??? There could be a big opening for me here id i get this right so all advice really welcome thanks in advance

Yes most degreasers will work, something like

http://www.dynamic-chemicals.co.uk/product.asp?P_ID=785.

or this one

http://www.ondemandsupplies.co.uk/products.php?product=Foodsafe-Kitchen-Degreaser-%252d-5-litres

Spray it all over..

What ever food degreaser you use make sure it is food safe!!!! I assume you are cleaning a commercial kitchen.

You may need more than 5 litres.

You will also need plenty of plastic and tape - to catch the grease - run it directly into a bucket - large 25 - 40 litre drum.

Oh and you need a jet wash....

As by the look of it from your post you have not done this before... so maybe ask someone to go with you who has done it before to look professional. No disrespect intended but you could face a huge bill if you damage something.

Best of luck

Is it Stainless or Aluminium? Does the fan have an gas interlock and an isolator switch? How far does the ducting go? Are there access panels or do you need to fit them? These are just some of the questions!!!!

Give me a call and i will try and help 07739 535648 ;)

How do you get them back to being shiny?
