Title: Do you use different brushes?
Post by: Cleaning Buddy on June 02, 2011, 03:40:41 pm
Getting my new van and equipment on Saturday, so started to ask a few friends and neighbours for an opportunity to clean the windows ..

Anyway, one guy has asked me to clean the outsides of his white gutters, soffits and fascias as well as the windows - not a problem I thought

Then I realised that I only have one wfp pole and brush - do you guys and girls use the same brush for all these jobs or do you have different ones?

White xtreme for all windows
SL DT mono facias and gutters, conservatory roofs.
Vikan mono conservatory roofs.

im sure the xtreme would be great for gutters and facias due to the weight of it, but i dont like mixing brushes for windows and gutter work.

i dont bother using tfr anymore, unless its really really bad, came up a treat,
then straight onto the windows, i only change brush if im using tfr.

White Xtreme for everything. ;)

I might put a normal Super-light flocked on for the odd conny roof if it's bad & use it with TFR.

Both are Gardiner brushes.

using a clean brush for windows is better than a dirty brush
so just clean the brush before you use it on the glass again takes seconds.

it only takes seconds to clean the window, dosent it
takes a lot longer to clean a brush
and if its got really soiled it takes longer

Can anyone tell me the difference between cleaning the outside of plastic gutters, and cleaning sills and plastic door steps?
Do some change brushes to clean the sills?

well I beg to differ, I really cant see how it should take anyone more than a minute to clean a brush with the essentials to hand e.g. tank of pure water , a pump and a hose, aint exactly difficult is it ?

as to the original posters question, no, I just use the same brush for everything, at the end of the day its a brush

I did that for the first 9 months i was wfp kybl

Only thing i found was that the brush wears alot quicker when you only use one for everything

Theres a man talking sense. I do use different brushes for different jobs, but its not to keep the brush clean for windows. As said it takes no time to clean a brush, especially if you submerge it in the custys rain butt whilst agitating the bristols. err i mean bristles..sorry freudian slip  ;D

Go and do a dirty first clean on a main road, see what state your brush gets in
bet you can't clean it quick, not good enough to do the glass
then you wonder why some say they get spotting!

plenty are already saying they use another brush
so there must be something to it

probably the same people who change their resin when the tds rises to 001
but hey ho spend (waste) as much money as you like on all manner of different brushes, goosenecks, poles etc.
maybe just my opinion but this wfp lark just seems to get more and more complicated as it advances. Know what your doing and be good at it and keep it simple, aint rocket science, your cleaning a window at the end of the day
