Title: Ninja steam mate - Help!
Post by: brianbarber on May 28, 2011, 02:24:23 pm
Hi guys

When I turn the dial for steam mate, as soon as it clicks to come on, it trips the electric.
STD in tank heater is fine.
No water inside machne
Possible problem with the dial temperate adjustment, or a thermostat?

Are there any guys in south east I can call who do repairs?
Or a trip to ashbys?

Regards

Mr B

One of the problems I have encountered with the steammate and ninja is the wiring is not suitable for the amount of amps the machine is continually drawing and the heat contained within a small area

Overtime the insulation on the wires splits, two wires touch, and it trips the electrics.

What you need to do is get it PAT tested to check the insulation.

As for taking it to Ashby's, waste of time. The best things is buy some 20amp cable and work your way through each wire, replacing as you go along.

There is a company in Basingstoke that I can recommend for sorting out machines if it is any good to you...

Update

Checked it, all working

Top tip

Don't be too casual when filling the machine with buckets of water!

Mine hasn't worked for months, kept tripping
so just stopped using it.
Was told £180 to repair.
Might strip it down tomorrow and have a look see.

I have had the same problem with mine, I haven't used it for years, does anyone know of anyone who can look at it in the Birmingham or West Midlands area.
