Title: Marketing via Tesco's post boxes
Post by: TomCrowther on May 28, 2011, 12:57:58 pm
Hi All
I have decided to try an add in my local Tesco shop. They have a post box in the entrance and a large board around the slot. You pay to advertise {12 companies only} on the board. There are two lots of leaflets stored on the board as well, with all 12 company's details on there. So if someone is looking for a plumber for example, they also get your details at the same time.
They get through 3-4 thousand leaflets a week {40,000 customers shop there each week}. Costs are £10 plus vat a week but you do sign up for 2 years and pay it all in the first 6 months. I thought it was worth a shot and like the idea of new customers coming through on the drip so to speak.
Has anyone else tried this or a similar form of marketing before?
Cheers.

I guess you got this through a phone cold call.

My answer is ALWAYS the same: Fine, you give me six months "try-before-you-buy" advertising, and when I see that it's worth my while, I'll pay for that six months and the next two years.

S'funny. no one's ever accepted my offer.

Forget it. The only person who will make money out of this is them.

Too late lads, paid a deposit and signed up  :( Will have to see what it returns. I am not too worried, I try a few different things and am doing OK for now so it's not the end of the world if it bombs. I Will report back in a few months {doesn't start for 8 weeks}. Thanks anywat  :)

Weeeellllllll, it's only 600 quid a year X 2 so 1200 quid. Yeah, give it a go, its only money. ;D

You could try knocking all the neighbours of your present custies, that's free. Good luck anyway.

By the way, is that 40,000 new custies every week in Tesco, or the same 40,000 every week? If it's so good, you must have been lucky o get a slot eh?

I don't know mate. I think half of advertising is cheap, the problem is though, which half?? The fastest way to make money with little effort is from advertising. When you have earned too much and gone over a tax threshold and your accountant tells you to spend and/or invest, that's the time to put money into charity or advertising.

I have a Tesco's near me (dont we all I guess)

Seen those business card boxes for local trades .. mostly empty ... so thought I would put some cards in them. ;)

Was there for 2 weeks before they were removed .... got no calls from it though

 Hi
Sorry to support the above, iam in two sainsburys on  a similar basis been a year now not a single call try and cancel under cooling off period or something.

As one of the above posts says i also slipped some pressure washing leaflets into a stand at a homebase been there 10 months now got one call, this also shows they dont monitor the stands properly.

 cheers
