Had a phone call this week from an old dear ... "Got your leaflet, can you come and give me a price please"
Not dropped any leaflets for ages so asked for her address .... turns out it was an area I leafleted about a year ago when I was first starting out :o
Went round yesterday afternoon and picked job up.
She had had a few leaflets over the last year but chose mine cos it had "pensioner discount" on it
Good end to a good week :D

Hope you told her that the discount offer had ended!! ;D When I first started up.. many many years ago :-[ I delivered a few of hundred leaflets offering a free first clean, I got a big response from them, but very quickly got fed up with all those free cleans!! :-\ I got my last call asking for a free clean over two years later!! I told them the offer had ended, but I still got the job!! ;)

Its amazing how old leaflets turn up years later. We haven't leafletted for several years now but still get the odd call.

I've never had much of a response out of leaflets. I can remember when I first put them out ( 400 or 500) I'd rush back and wait for the phone to ring, but it rarely works out like that. You usually get 2 or 3 jobs, and as you say, the time span can be a couple of years later.
I don't like knocking on doors ( which is a shame, as it's probably the best technique for getting domestic work), so these days I just put a couple of ads in local magazines. Works for me.

I had one the other day. The guy i spoke to about a year ago text me and asked for a quote.
I quoted him £13 monthly / £15 2 monthly this time. I specifically remember quoting him £10/£12 last year ;D

free first cleans?honestly! desperation and utter madness spring to mind!!
there has been a company near me offering free first cleans.in my experience they usually take double (sometimes triple!)the time to clean compared to maintenance cleans.a lot will turn out messers and your working for free!! :( :( :(
i sometimes charge double, sometimes just a bit extra.so i tend to lose out a bit on first cleans but i go the extra mile to give a good impression then splash and dash after that to make money on the account.
on topic ive had jobs from cards dropped 2+ years ago! ;D ;D
its nice to know they dont all chuck them straight in the bin!! ;D ;D ;D

im the same, get the odd call from a 2yr old leaflet. i believe if you keep dropping out leaflets at 1000 or so at a time, rapido expansion follows for sure.

She might have been waiting until she turned 65; to get the discount.

Dropping around 1,000 a week at the moment and picking up 8-10 jobs a week. Seems to me that systematic and determined leafleting is as good as canvassing except perhaps less compact... maybe.

i had to pull the plug on leafletting as i was trying to cope alone, with the cleaning coming in thick & fast. i ploughed on for 2 long years ,leafletting now and then until it got impossible
in hindsight i should have found workers as soon as i was able, instead i almost wore myself out .
