Title: nicotine problems
Post by: Elite (Ben) on October 07, 2005, 06:30:47 pm
I came across a poly carpet today, light green and patterned. Around the door edges were brown lines, which despite trying an army of chemicals, could not shift. Most of the carpet had the same (but not so bad) yellow tinge. It came up ok and customer was pleased, but i was dissapointed with results.
the customer is a heavy smoker so i wonder if it could be nicotine. If so, has anyone had much success in removing it?

many thanks,

Ben

Ben,

Unlikely to be nicotine , too localised and nicotine is relatively easy to remove.

Sounds like a pigment degradation to me , quite possibly aggravated around the edges by drafts.

Cheers,

Doug

Could be oily draft marks from soot  which has oxidised over time.
